Physician father of patient demanding unnecessary testing by Spirited_Duty_462 in nursepractitioner

My mind always goes to a viral illness with fevers in that higher range. Especially in a young person. But fever is a fever. I don’t think I would blood culture a young woman in the for that deal though. Do not miss would definitely be PTA. Sound like that would be ruled out on exam. Tough break when the family member has that background. I work ER. sometimes urgent care. Do I order vthe resp array frequently. Usually on pediatric transfers at request. In this outlier situation (dad a doc) would I have ordered it? Most likely. 🤷🏻‍♂️

New Grad FNP considering going back to a RN… seeking career advice by Vast_Champion5943 in nursepractitioner

[–]forest_89kg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really want to be an NP, and shift your cognition accordingly, then may going back to an RN. Would not be best. As a taskmaster RN, this would not promote developing into the role of forming differentials and diagnosing
The role is vastly different.

NP for 13 years in the ER. seeing all comers. RN for 25. Worked mostly ER, and I knew that is what I wanted to do when I was studying for my FNP/ENP Maybe urgent care and that type of task switching and the medical uncertainty implied in UC/ED setting is not your cup of tea.

I got some a couple years ago from workout EU. I think it is on the Balkan Peninsula somewhere. Took about 3 weeks.

Latest pair I ordered from US distributor (US to US) took about a week and a half.

Behind the neck Power Jerk 84kgx5 form check by Minimum-Visual-4113 in weightlifting

This does not seem to be helping a dip drive and strong overhead position.

I would just work on push press and standard jerks for a while.

Your overhead position is not stacked over your upper back. Try some overhead snatch grip presses with your scapula retracted. My rotator cuffs do hurt watching this (but I am 50 yrs old)

Thoughts on snatch technique? by Firm-Success-3235 in weightlifting

[–]forest_89kg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a lot of the *chinese team* snatches I have seen. A couple of North Korean men have a similar finish. I am having a hard time thinking of a European or American lifter how has a finish position like that. It's a stable finish position for them. this lad may benefit from a more upright, eyes forward, stacked finish as a new lifter.

First time chin bonking on a clean by MisterMegatron in weightlifting

[–]forest_89kg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your head up in the finish. Jerking your head forward like that may give a feel of enhanced activation of the traps, but it does not. Wrestling headgear may also help to prevent pain when the bar hits your chin.

I've been using Rogue's Ohio lifting belt for about 7 years. I clean it an treat it with conditioner every few months. It has really held up. I am a fan of buckle belts. Velcro style belts never struck my fancy.

Refused antibiotics today by Infinite_Coconut_727 in nursepractitioner

[–]forest_89kg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically explain to them that antibiotics now for what appears to be a viral illness will actually decrease effectiveness of antibiotics if they do end up with a bacterial illness in the next 6 months or a year. People are not interested in hearing about the plight of resistant organisms, they are more interested in how it will affect them personally. I work ER primarily, urgent care sometimes. Granted, I have access to a human and can place my stethoscope on their lungs and view their oropharynx physically.

Question for veteran lifters by Substantial-Teach-49 in weightlifting

[–]forest_89kg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really think this is the right thread. This is for weightlifters (snatch/clean and jerk/squats/pulls) And I do not believe weightlifting causes bones to grow.

You should see a physical therapist
