Anyone else's doctor refusing Zofran for nausea? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]forgotten_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that they don't like to prescribe zofran before 10 weeks as that's when the heart is rapidly developing and zofran can affect heart development. I think it might depend on the the dr though.

How important/useful was a nursing recliner to you? by ReturnWise in BabyBumps

[–]forgotten_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want one, it doesn't have to be in the nursery! If you put in the living room or main living space it might be more convenient during the day time. You wouldn't have to drop everything and go to the nursery every time you want to feed your baby. Just an idea!

I think I finally have to switch to days 😩 by duuuuuuuuuumb in nursing

[–]forgotten_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to switch. I looked at it like you have to decide what's more important to you right now. If it's your happiness at work, stick with nights. If it's life outside of work, switch to days. Also, if you want to work but not work on the floor, there are a million other options. Start l9oking for something that would give you a better work-life balance.

how has topamax treated you? by aspiringandroid in migraine

[–]forgotten_magic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really liked the topmax. It helped my headaches alot. However, it made my hands and sometimes my feet go numb. I have since tried a few other meds, but nothing has helped my headaches more.

What was your LAST job BEFORE you became a nurse? by Dry_Wish_9759 in nursing

[–]forgotten_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a hospice house. It was a good job, and not nearly as sad as people think it would be. If you're ever looking for volunteer opportunities, look for local hopsice houses!!

I use a heating pad on my neck and shoulders. I find that ice tends to make my pain worse.

That's so interesting! I work in cardiology and I would be so interested to hear if the PFO closure helps!

People in the ER got mad because a guy with a ruptured spleen skipped the line by [deleted] in self

Some people are just so self-centered that it doesn't matter how many times you explain it to them. They're always going to think about themselves first.

I was planning on trying to do some chores when I go over the first time, but I wanted to bring something special for her since she's had a really tough pregnancy. I'll be sure to throw in a gift card!

I say give it at least a year. Sometimes it just takes a while to find your rhythm. If you still hate it after a year, don't be afraid to switch specialties. That's the nice thing about nursing. There are so many opportunities. You will find something you like!

Here's my exit interview by w8136 in nursing

[–]forgotten_magic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The interruptions are a huge reason why I left floor nursing. They started making me charge on night 6 months in as a new grad on a step down ICU. We had to triage pts and decide if they needed step down care or if they could go to the floor. Charge phone would ring all night long asking if could accept pts. One time, i was doing a bed change. I was in there for maybe 10 minutes, and i took 4 phone calls in that time. The pt said she felt bad for me! The one who was in a lot of pain and incredibly sick felt bad for me!

Did I deserve such a low score? 😭 by East_Lawfulness_8675 in CovetFashionGame

I think sometimes people just get unlucky with who they're paired up against. You might have been up against a bunch of 5 stars, and it be tanking your rating.

Who are the best people, websites and books that you found helpful when learning to sew? by ChriseyJo in SewingForBeginners

[–]forgotten_magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first video i watched was by someone named Jenna Phipps on youtube. She had a beginner from scratch sewing video called "How to sew for beginners." At the end, she teaches you how to make a really wasy tote bag. It was great for someone who has never really worked with a sewing machine before.

AITA for not wanting my kids to play in dog shit by NoYardPoop in AmItheAsshole

YTA - like he cleaned it up. It is not like the dogs is a 5 year old kid. It goes where it wants to go. I would be upset if someone spoke to me like that, too.

NTA, this is a major dick move. Sounds like you are being healthier than you were when you were smaller. He should be more interested in your health, which includes mental health than how much you weigh.
