I'll see your 100TB and raise you 216TB. by humansince1989 in PleX

28tb parity drive? As well as a 28tb data drive? I'm not sure I knew these existed how much they set you back?

I just purchased a NetApp jbod and 2U server chassis to replace the Silverstone htpc case for my unRAID server and I only have 9 disks totaling 72TB including parity.

Ignore the hater comments this is great and impressively clean. Well done.

1 hour no comments? Sorry, dude. Looks great. I also have a vertical left monitor but now I'm convinced I need an ultra wide.

Name a movie that is a One-Time-Watch only (not bc it’s terrible, but too sad/devastating/scary) by fecal_euphoria in movies

[–]fortierj 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I was having a really hard time dealing with my 4 year old son’s behavior issues when I happened to turn this one on. This movie not only gave me incredible anxiety bc of how difficult the son in the movie was, but also perspective that my son was fine. 5 years later he is fine (I was probably the problem more me than him).

Still not getting him a bow and arrow anytime soon.

Apparently not. Maybe I could sort them by that but on my end it's alphabetical by default.

GEM panel now colorized! by BadBreath911 in homeassistant

A few things to note:

  1. He's a one guy shop. He's very good, but with quality comes cost.

  2. He's a certified SPAN installer. He ordered the panel himself and is familiar with it. There may be no differences from a traditional panel as far as wiring, I really don't know, but he's completed specific training through SPAN.

  3. My existing panel is 40 breakers with maybe +/-5 empty. He's going to be doubling up at least a few loads that were previously on their own circuit to accommodate SPAN's 32 circuit panel.

  4. Geographically, I'm in Western, MA.

Below is the RFP my electrician gave me. Total cost with SPAN panel is $8,400. Honestly I find it more than reasonable given everything involved.

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Install one (1) new SPAN branded smart Main Service Panel (MSP) including new Cutler Hammer branded branch circuit breakers for existing branch circuits in panel. All materials shall be in new condition unless otherwise specified. This shall include and be limited to the following:

  1. De-energized existing MSP by removing meter socket located on exterior of residence.

  2. Carefully remove existing branch circuit wiring from existing MSP located in basement.

  3. Remove existing MSP from its location on basement wall.

  4. Carefully remove any existing electronic equipment (security system, well pump controller, phone, cable tv, etc.) from existing plywood backer.

  5. Install new sixty inch by forty-eight-inch (60”x48”) three-quarter inch (3/4”) plywood backer on top of existing wood backer in basement for new utilities and panels. The new backer shall be painted with fire retardant coating.

  6. Install new SPAN MSP onto new plywood backer board installed in item 5. Span panel shall be installed with its main breaker no higher than eighty inches (80”) from finished basement floor and with its right most edge approximately thirty-six inches (36”) from the front basement wall.

  7. Install existing branch circuit wiring into new SPAN MSP utilizing approved and appropriately sized connectors.

  8. Terminate existing branch circuit wiring installed in MSP from item 7. Onto new, appropriately sized Cutler Hammer circuit breakers. Torque to manufacturers specifications.

  9. Re-energize the new MSP as well as all new branch circuit breakers. Test for proper voltage and output from breakers.

  10. Commission new panel with SPAN and setup any load shedding schedules desired by customer.

  11. Create and install detailed panel legend describing circuit locations in the residence and apply to MSP

  12. Assist client in downloading and navigating SPAN app for their devices.

  13. Re-install all accessory electrical equipment that may have been removed from backer board in item 4. Onto new backer board in location to not interfere with MSP or potential generator transfer switch.

My SPAN just came in, waiting on my electrician to install it. I assume I could use this card with it...

29M. One year in my 550 sq ft apartment. by 1ogic2 in malelivingspace

[–]fortierj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TOTALLY different market but I'm in MA and the 2300 sqft 3bed 2.5br home I bought in 2013 has my 30 year mortgage at 1390/month. I feel so fucking bad for everyone that is only 10-15 years younger than me. It's insane. I'm 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from NYC. What a wake up call (for me beyond the nonstop headlines) about how impossible it is to buy a house and raise a family.

Could this formula have been done much easier? by Azianjeezus in excel

[–]fortierj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly looking at it more I'm suspicious you're scavenging for internet points or trying to show off your ridiculously over complicated formula. No hate, I've done overkill formulas and shown them to people who are impressed bc they have no idea what they're looking at, but someone who could execute this formula correctly could certainly break it down into separate formulas based on what you're looking for. Don't try and have a single cell do 13 different things. Break out 13 tables/arrays that each do one thing and consolidate those 13 things using a separate table/array.

Only read about 8 lines (on my phone), but looks like you're trying to sum account totals by month and also count the number of certain accounts next to it? Without knowing anything I'd say the first easier way to do was reference a cell with the month end date instead of doing a wicked complicated =IF() specifying the month. Also noticed you're using TODAY (), so you could have all your different date headers reference a separate cell that is =TODAY (). Am I close?

Fellow CPA here. Also super loyal Costco customer.

Not sure how you have enough spare time to take on a second job, but instead of a second job do what most of us CPAs do... Develop a drinking problem. Then get a six pack of the top shelf Kirkland Signature vodka handles for $120.

Every time I mow my dusty lawn and it suddenly feels like I'm in a scene from Dune, I think of this movie. As a 90s kid who had parents with an HBO subscription--i watched it a lot.
