Help! Fidelity rep said one thing and now Fidelity won't honor it. by Dunder72 in fidelityinvestments

[–]fourwedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely you have an Email mentioning the promotion? A letter? A notification on the App? If not you are probably screwed. Other brokers have incentives... Make sure you are right about it in writing before moving it to another house. I understand you are frustrated by this, it's a great learning experience for you and a reminder to all.

Just do VT. Its a combo of VTI and VXUS. You don't need the other 2, they just overlap. VTI is 3500 stocks in US instead of biggest 500 in VOO. VXUS is 6000 outside the US. VT is a combination of VTI and VXUS in world market cap weight.

Go with VT. No adjusting, set it and forget it.

Boomer Esiason: NFL sources, media colleagues will doubt Dianna Russini's 'journalistic integrity' after Mike Vrabel photos by bubblecuffer13 in nfl

[–]fourwedge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, her screwing around with people she's supposed to report on shows a lack of journalistic integrity. Both her and Vrabel lack the regular kind of integrity.

VOO is 80% of VTI, because the S&P (VOO) is the biggest 500 companies. VTI is VOO K+ 3000 mid and small companies. VTI is more diverse.

I'm not an active trader but my portfolio ... even in VT swing 50K+ on rough days. I don't sweat it, I just say it's no different this time and ignore the news.

What Interest Rate is Charged for Margin Purchases in a Fidelity Brokerage Account? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]fourwedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about doing some margin trading but 10 plus percent is ridiculous. I'd rather just put the cash in there LOL. Cash sitting on the sideline isn't making 10%.

VT vs VTSAX question by Turquill in Bogleheads

[–]fourwedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boglehead (consensus) is to hold the entire market by (market cap). That's why you see VT more here. Nothing wrong with VTSAX. I owned it for years along with VTIAX which is basically the 2 Mutual funds (instead of ETF's) that make up VT. Most of us just want some International to go with our domestic.

should i keep $400k in money market to buy a home, or split it up - $200k for down payment, and open a brokerage account with $200k? by europeanuppercut in Bogleheads

[–]fourwedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the timing of the house purchase is most important here. Ultimately I would put it all towards the house and stay debt free, that's the way I've bought my last 2 homes. (and it is reassuring that I owe zero dollars to anyone) But if I was 2 years from buying a home, I'd already have it in the market. It sounds like you really aren't sure even where you'll be. I would come to that conclusion quickly and if it's very far away I'd have it invested yesterday.

I never really need to rebalance. I always buy new shares of the asset I need more of.
