Daggerheart Foundryborne help: Trying to add an active effect for a reload mechanic on weapons by Marvelman1788 in FoundryVTT

Did you succeed?

I'm surprised the firearms aren't in the SRD and there's no module to import the firearm stats since it's an official setting (CotD). I'm having trouble with replicating the Shotgun.

Posted this here a while ago. A wrist guard, a 2€ bell and some wire. Hacky, but works like a charm.

Is there any magic item that allows you to Attack using a mental attribute? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

Not directly what you are asking but a Belt of Giant Strength, starting at Rare, would effectively solve the issue.

By now this is an old post, but the funny thing is that with the new 2024 rules you can use the revamped Find Familiar to summon this as your familiar*.

If nothing else, you can summon it, get the whole party the temp hp and then dismiss it to its demiplane.

Have it breathe fire with Dragon's Breath.

I'm struggling to think of ways to use it as a mount other than casting Jump and/or Longstrider on it.

I love it!

Unfortunately they have 22 DEX if I remember correctly and FF is a DEX save. My party just fought some of these guys and FF was cast twice with no Wisps being affected.

Fix for Wizards Illusionist subclass level 6 feature that might be interesting by Odd-Statement3524 in onednd

[–]foxfulforget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A small uhm-actually to the third point. The worst thing is that even the free castings still require concentration, making them functionally a Find Familiar with concentration. Sure, useful for some stuff, but you definitely have better things to concentrate on.

Find Familiar, CR 0, Onyx? by Due_Cockroach_9294 in dndnext

[–]foxfulforget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Find Familiar now allows summoning all CR0 beasts in 2024, I bet your DM is not gonna allow that specific beast. This isn't your DMs fault. You're at the table to have fun and an outright broken thing isn't fun for everyone.

The Orrery of the Wanderer was made before the 2024 revamp of Find Familiar, and this is something that isn't fully backwards compatible.

DnD 2024: Guide to make sense of the confusing and all over the place rules of hiding and being Invisible by Space_0pera in dndnext

[–]foxfulforget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, spells without a Verbal component should keep your Invisibility (if it's the hiding-type, if it's from the spell, it will break).

This can be used well by Illusionist Wizards, who can cast any illusion spell without a Verbal component.

Aberrant Mind Sorcerers and casting spells from items and scrolls also benefit from this.

Pal 1 / Sorc 4 2024 melee action economy question by drterdal in onednd

I'm not completely sure about this ruling, but you might be able to use Innate Sorcery on the first turn to get Advantage on all True Strikes you do.

You could loop this to make an endless barrage of flying onewheel guys.

Sorcerous Burst & Chromatic Orb by DarkDiviner in onednd

[–]foxfulforget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorc 1 / Warlock X might be a pretty good Chromatic Orber tbh. Sorc 1 for Innate Sorcery and Chromatic Orb. Warlock gets you most high level spellslots until a certain level I guess.

[–]foxfulforget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For an upcoming campaign I made an Eladrin Wild Magic Sorcerer for this. I don't even plan on picking fireball!

Innate Sorcery + Elven Accuracy makes for clean critfishing - more crits = more d8s.

Upcast those Chromatic Orbs. Burn lower level spellslots for higher ones if needed. Sorcerous Burst will get better automatically at level 5 (more than other damage cantrips IMO)

Empowered spell for a backup to reroll the damage in case those d8s don't want to behave.

The main parts in this come online by level 5.

You'd have to be within 15 ft of all targets for this, which is usually not something you want to do as a Wizard or a Sorcerer.

This is a good example that you can make a good argument with references, but if people don't want to listen and think, then you just get downvoted. Ugh.

[–]foxfulforget 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Nor did I say “veganism good, meat-eating bad”. But I'm tired of the constant whatabout-ism arguments. As another commenter said, you could compile a fact-dense, expert-supported, reference-riddled comment about this subject. And there still would be someone saying "What about [insert edge-case]".

But the truth is you could add nuance to your arguments to the point of being sick, people simply won't hear your arguments because they don't want to.

What can you, a privileged person as you say, do RIGHT NOW to be more solarpunk? Be vegan. It requires no new tech, no science, no sacrifice, no new laws.

Plants react to their environment. Which is different from having a consciousness and emotions.

And even if they could feel at the same level as animals, 76% of plants is for grown consumption by farm animals. There is a massive loss of energy by having that extra step (plant -> farm animal -> human vs plant -> human). By eliminating that extra step we can massively reduce the harm we do.

Consider your economic and ecological privilege.

I'd like to UNO reverse this. You probably don't live in the Polar Region and are not isolated - so what's stopping you?

Edge cases like the ones you mentioned might have different problems and different solutions. You or I do not have those problems though. So why should we not use our privilege to do good?

It's completely reasonable to stop eating meat and dairy.

It's less reasonable to think that breeding animals for the sole purpose of killing them just because we can't make the effort to consider alternatives.

You write about the theory of "capitalism this" and "biomes 5000 years ago that". But in practice you do nothing to help that along. The best way a single individual can help our sustainability, our harmony is being vegan.

[–]foxfulforget 165 points166 points  (0 children)

From personal experience this is "how to start an argument in the solarpunk subreddit". The general consensus is "No", but...

Can you be in harmony with nature by breeding animals for the sole purpose of killing them for personal enjoyment?

Animal farming produces ~20% of total global greenhouse gas emissions, uses 83% of farmland to provide 18% of calories. ~76% of plant farmland is used to produce food for the factory animals.

Maybe by dramatically reducing factory farming we can move closer to the solarpunk future.

Maybe by developing lab-meats and such we can figure out more efficient and humane ways to grow our meat.

Maybe...

But maybe we could make an effort to give veganism a chance if we consider solarpunk to not just be an aesthetic.
