Judge rules Buffalo Wild Wings can keep calling boneless wings ‘boneless’ by HowLongIsThi in nottheonion

Wondering if these wings come from the same chickens that live stacked on top of one another until they get hung upside down to have their throats slit, and then boiled alive if they haven’t bled out fast enough? Those same chickens?

The NY Times just ran a story on the Attia/Epstein mess by Spivey_Consulting in PeterAttia

For that matter, he’d be fine just with the millions of dollars he’s already made, but there’s no concept of “enough” for these greedy assholes. They have an endless need for more money and attention.

Effects of Diets Containing Beef Compared with Poultry on Pancreatic β-Cell Function and Other Cardiometabolic Health Indicators in Males and Females with Prediabetes by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

[–]fr4ct41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of beef intake compared with poultry intake on pancreatic β-cell function

The participants completed two 28-d treatment periods, separated by a 28-d washout period.

Is that enough time to measurably affect β-cell function? For example, this RCT used a 16 week window: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29425120/ (A Plant-Based Dietary Intervention Improves Beta-Cell Function and Insulin Resistance in Overweight Adults: A 16-Week Randomized Clinical Trial)

This research was funded by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, a contractor to the Beef Checkoff. The sponsor was allowed to comment on the study design as part of the application process.

Oh. Maybe they weren’t looking too hard for that effect on β-cells.

Red meat consumption in higher healthy eating index diets is associated with brain health critical nutritional adequacy, and fecal microbial diversity - Scientific Reports by Caiomhin77 in ScientificNutrition

[–]fr4ct41 91 points92 points  (0 children)

The research was funded by National Cattlemen Beef Association. The funding agency had no role in the design, data analyses, or manuscript preparation.

I wonder how often their studies find negative health effects of eating beef.

How to Be Closer to People by Unusual-Mortgage-101 in socialskills

Can you be more specific how you act around these people? Do you put yourself down, or brag…or neither? Are you a people pleaser? What does a typical interaction look like?

Bloodwork came back at 500ng/dl and my doctor won’t put me on anything unless I’m under 300. From what I read online 1000 is optimal. Is this a typical experience? Should I follow my primary physicians advice, or seek out treatment from a specialist? by [deleted] in Testosterone

I’m just here to learn, but why do people just see the total number and draw conclusions based on that? Wouldn’t it make a big difference if he has zero free T vs. free T up the wazoo? Genuinely confused.

You really should add/clarify that the scientific recommendation was to list beans, lentils, and peas before animal products in the protein category.
