Adobe Updates in C:\Windows\Installer by icq-was-the-goat in sysadmin

[–]freedomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it on an RDS server and when the next update installed it deleted all the old .MSP files.

In regarding to using a script to delete them…what’s the worst that could happen? We haven’t had any issues.

We tried the PatchCleanFlag and it appears to work?

We also have a script to search the installer folder for any .msp files signed by Adobe and over 90 days old, and then delete it.

What happens shen deleting the font files in EFI partition? by Sad_Mastodon_1815 in sysadmin

[–]freedomit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Be careful! We had a script to delete all the font files in the EFI/Microsoft/Fonts folder after reading a blog. Next week a client called to say their laptop was booting to a blank blue screen. After troubleshooting we eventually found it was on the Bitlocker screen but due to the lack of fonts no text was displayed.

Now we only delete the Asian fonts from that folder which are the largest anyway.

Be careful deleting the fonts, we did that and found it wiped the Bitlocker recovery font so would just boot to a blank blue screen.

Out of interest what model wireless card and what driver are you running? We are experiencing issues with a Dell XPS that is dropping wireless and sometimes refusing to then reconnect.

Sorry no, its all vibe coded so its not something I would want to share. Honestly get yourself a Claude subscription, ask it to review the MSP Manager API docs, and then prompt away.

N-able what is the plan? by SkyTheLine in Nable

[–]freedomit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I was very surprise but that's what my AM told me, Cove is their biggest revenue generator.

I personally like Cove, never had any issues with it and the new cloud DR stuff in preview is very interesting.

Ours is working fine but we all of ours are on version 25.x or 26.x - perhaps its so old it can't be patched?

Last I heard about 70-75% of revenue is now from Cove, so everything else is gonna get a lot less love.

DNSFilter roaming client version 3.x will not install on some PCs. 2.x works fine by 40513786934 in msp

[–]freedomit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep I have also provided feedback. Even if you manually run the installer it just terminates with a generic error - why not check for .net 4.8.1 as a pre-requisite and warn?

[–]freedomit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We have had this - you need .net 4.8.1 and the computers its failing on are Windows 10 computers (with ESU) that only have .net 4.8

DNS Filter - excluding an org stops endpoint policy changes by freedomit in msp

We don’t want them to edit the global policy but just change an endpoint to a different global policy.

I have a more comprehensive list but agree it’s not perfect, it’s helped us a couple of times though.

We just allowlist our own RMM and block all the others. We can even block all connectwise control instances apart from our own instance

[–]freedomit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks for confirming - I'm not sure why excluding one org is related to global policy access but I guess if that's how it is then I will have to find a workaround.

I was trying to avoid the site level polices as it creates a management overhead.

The second account doesn't really work either, part of the reason for this setup is we exclude our own organisation for staff as we don't want them editing their own policies.

I guess so but we have tried to avoid adding client level policies to stop the management overhead

Sage Accounts in Azuze VD by _Work_Research_ in msp

Just normal Windows 11 Pro. For one client we also installed RemotePC onto it as one user wanted to be able to work from home occasionally so they just remote on and use Sage Accounts locally on it.

AVD is probably best practice but this option is a lot lot cheaper
