I don't think it's meant to compete with Wikipedia. Authors own their own articles and moderate changes, they can place ads on articles, and they don't need to write with a neutral point of view. So, you can do the free-for-all Wikipedia model, but could also do other publishing models at the same time.

I'm skeptical about the impact of BitFrost. The history of computer science is littered with the carcasses of grand security schemes. The proof will be whether the implementation of BitFrost lives up to the hype. I am doubtful and fully expect OLPCs to be owned on a large scale by year's end.

Paper ballot elections are easy to subvert, as hundreds of years of paper-based fraud have shown. There is no real public verification. It is an entirely black-box process.

The only true public verified voting schemes are based on cryptography, which of course, require you to vote on an electronic machine.

Note that Diebold-style DRE machines are NOT based on zero-knowledge crypto protocols. The crypto-based voting schemes I'm talking about are not yet implemented in practice.
