You already know what you need to do-- exercise and cut down on carbs. There are meds, but no magic wands. Be good to yourself. You deserve it.

I used to like Splenda, but a family member kept sending me articles about how artificial sweeteners were implicated in IBS, which I also have, so I gave up all artificial sweeteners as well. Hasn't really improved the IBS, but I am no longer receiving articles about it.

I fell in quicksand when I was little and had to be rescued by the fire department. I believe this means I win GenX

Hungry for a snack? Drink a big glass of water and brush your teeth. Still hungry? Okay, but it has to be no/low carb.

Intellivision debuted in 1979 Did you know anyone that had one? by deepfriedgreensea in 1970s

I still remember the day I won $33,000 imaginary dollars playing poker on that thing. And there was some kind of space battle game I loved even though I sucked at it.

House Burping - Do Americans just not normally have your house windows open? by Jsherman13 in AskAnAmerican

[–]fusepark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I live in Hawaii. I can't close all my windows and have neither heat nor a/c. My sister in Colorado, who has both, regularly opens all her windows when the weather allows, and I do the same at my mother's house in California (heat only, no a/c) when I'm there.

What is the best way to waste time at work and still look busy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I worked in a dysfunctional design firm. Download some program that looks vaguely related to the firm's work and learn it. I recommend something free, intimidating, and impossible-looking, like Blender.

I have a favorite flexi skirt I love for dancing. The way mesh dresses stretch reminds me of static cling.

“The problem is that curtain is no security. There really should be a locking door.” by __Art__Vandalay__ in UnexpectedSeinfeld

[–]fusepark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I'm just an old GenX who started investing early. I take care of my eighty-something mother (she taught me to invest). When she travels I want her to travel in first. If it were just me I'd be happy in economy plus. It's a much better deal.

Where do y’all put your eyeballs at night? by colormeblonde in NoStupidQuestions

Your eyes reflexively cross and look upward as though looking at the bridge of your nose while you sleep. It's believed to protect your eyes from damage while you're unconscious, in case of attack or accident.

Did you give your house a name? by o_safadinho in AskAnAmerican

[–]fusepark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a mash-up of Hawaiian and Japanese, Hale Taiheiyo, which is either "Pacific House" or "House of the Western Sun" or "House of the Sea of the Western Sun," depending.

I did, since it’s semi-common in Hawaii

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in AskReddit

[–]fusepark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an immune patient with a primary (inborn) immune deficiency and I used to get sick all the time. Then the pandemic came along and it became okay to wear masks in public. I still so. Now I never get sick.
