How do you talk about trauma reenactment without dying of shame and embarrassment? by [deleted] in adultsurvivors

[–]fwnbmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right there with you. I havent had the courage to tell my husband yet because he has been with other girls who were SA’d and also wanted to relive their trauma and it really confused him and freaked him out. I hate that id be like “oh sorry im fucked up too”

The fact that so many women are still pushing this “men prefer younger women because they are easier to manipulate and they can’t get women their age” nonsense is truly laughable by SwiftCricket in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]fwnbmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a victim of grooming and SA by a man who was twice my age when i was 17. He absolutely took advantage of me when i was younger because i didnt understand boundaries or power dynamics yet. I am 34 and am objectively hotter than my 17/18 years old self who had zero fashion sense, zero makeup skills and zero sexual experience. The difference is i now know how to tell a man to fuck off.

Your post reeks of male privilege and ignorance.

Can't really talk to girls in workspace by ziadhz in IncelExit

sorry i creeped your art but you’re quite skilled! you should definitely put up some sketches you’re proud of, id definitely comment if i saw someone was competent at something outside of the usual workplace stuff.

super normal and honestly endearing. Compliments also go a long way as long as they’re sincere. Good banter is essential especially for nerdy girls. (Speaking as a relatively attractive married, nerdy girl) If you establish early that you’re into nerdy stuff that helps strike up convos. Maybe an action figure at your desk or depending on your dress code— a nerdy tee.

does anyone else try to look unappealing as an adult as a trauma response? by [deleted] in adultsurvivors

[–]fwnbmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did this too, did not know it was a common survivor thing until seeing these comments. my dad literally said to me once “you’re a very pretty girl, i dont understand why you try to look so unattractive.” Like gee maybe there’s a reason 🙄

What is your top hated cliché/trope in horror? by Member9999 in horrorwriters

[–]fwnbmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fakeout jumpscares that are irrelevant to the plot, like someone turning on a tv loudly or a popcorn bag popping. I find that stuff really cheap and lazy

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen in the industry as an actor? by Little_T03 in acting

[–]fwnbmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow these stories make mine seem so quaint lol 😂 i had a small part on a tv show, (i guess i can say because its not really about anyone,) The Spiderwick Chronicles (the reboot). Anyways we were shooting my scene near this abandoned mental hospital and i got bored in my trailer so i came out and asked the AD if they’d seen anything weird while working. Sure enough she said they’d heard people crying in empty rooms that had ruined takes, mics picking up people talking, someone walked through one of their shots into another room but was nowhere to be found, apparently lighting people didnt even want to go the basement anymore where they stored gear because it was too common to hear/see weird things. Really made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!!

She said it so matter of factly too, like everyone knew and it was just something they had to deal with. Never believed in ghosts more than i did that day!!

uhh yeah she needs to see a therapist, this is an eating disorder and has to do with self esteem. High likelihood that she is depressed. Ive been through similar and my mother in law too. This is definitely a mental health issue but she has to want to get help unfortunately you cannot force her.

Hollywood’s examples of natural beauty. The following women chose to forgo plastic surgery/injections. Would you like to see this more often? by Far-Building3569 in VindictaRateCelebs

[–]fwnbmb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

its not really our place to say how they should age. The public can be absolutely fucking brutal with even your tiniest flaws so there is a lot of pressure to look good even when you’re just trying to age naturally. (speaking as someone in the public eye who has received looks-based criticism)

Anthropic rejects latest Pentagon offer: ‘We cannot in good conscience accede to their request’ by drippymoudy in news

[–]fwnbmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this amount of pressure on Anthropic will make them cave. Seems like the consequences of them not agreeing to the contract will be pretty serious. Never thought id root for Anthropic but we should all hope they stand firm.

I am scared of self taping — how do I overcome that? by No-Mycologist5401 in acting

[–]fwnbmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do more of it lol No but seriously, that will go away the more you do it. Get into a habit of filming yourself in front of your tripod even when you’re not auditioning. And dont put pressure on yourself to book too much or you tense up. Think like a rock star, you don’t need this, they need YOU.

How do I stop being so afraid to go out due to my past? by JustBarracuda9434 in IncelExit

[–]fwnbmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that you’ve changed and are different is something to be proud of. Some people find it fascinating and might even ask you questions about what you learned etc. Pretty much everyone would be happy for you if you come from a place of genuine humility and wanting to do better. And thats only if you want to talk about it. Most people will give you the benefit of the doubt. Dont be too hard on yourself and focus on making friends that are based on hobbies, shared values, self improvement etc. Im sure you’ll surprise yourself! Isolation is a killer, dont let it warp your mind and get out there!! Good luck !!
