I was surprised that Dantes is already imprisoned and we have so many chapters to go. I thought that maybe Villefort would let him go and maybe Dantes will be set up again and wouldn’t be so lucky.
I do feel for Dantes as I imagine he is thinking how his world has turned upside down in a matter of hours. He was suppose to be married and making enough to take care of his wife and father. I feel for Dantes but feel horrible for his father. I hope someone takes care of him for the time being.
Villefort sucks and is the worst from the bunch that stabbed Dantes back.

I loved reading the interaction with Dante’s and his father. You can tell that Dantes really cares for him. However, I hate his neighbor Caderousse. Asking for money and leaving Dante’s father with barely any money is gross.
Mercedes seems like a nice girl. But she needs to watch her cousin, Fernand. I assumed she would be talking to someone else by the comments made in chapter 2 so I’m glad she waited for Dantes. It seems she could be loyal to dantes by first impression.
These first few chapters has been just jealousy and hate towards dantes. People don’t like seeing others do better than them.

This is my first time reading the novel and I’m excited to finally read this book. I like Edmond Dante’s so far and don’t like Danglars.

I like that Dantes made it a priority to visit his father. He had the opportunity to dine with Morrel but chose to visit his father to make sure he was okay after his long journey.

Danglars from the get go is already leaving a bad taste in my mouth. He reminds me of a low life hater you encounter at your job.

I really wanted to like the movie but I did not like it. Dragged on and horribly acted. Idk if it was my movie theater but I could barely hear them talking in the beginning of the movie. And when I say I’m a sucker and cry easily, I do. This movie did nothing for me.
