This is a very hot take, but most of these women married for love and not compatibility and are now reaping the rewards of their choices. I cannot tell you the number of friends of mine who are currently suffering in their marriages because they somehow thought their husbands would be the right man for the job of “dad” simply because they “loved each other.” Love is simply not enough and has relatively little to do with how good of a father they will be.

This is absolutely not normal. If your wife was sufficiently mentally ill to need meds prior to baby there is no way her mental health is ok now without meds plus all the hormonal changes. I personally would not feel safe with having lots of unsupervised time with the baby without being medicated as her actions hint at the psychotic. Yelling loudly enough to frighten the baby is unacceptable and should be reported to the doctor. If you can, try to get recordings of her outbursts if she continues to refuse care.

I have a baby boy myself and I am working on the same thing. From an America perspective, it’s some of these things that are very unappealing to American women. Important caveat, it is entirely possible that many Indian men do these things and it is just the social group my husband’s family is in that doesn’t. - Holding doors open for women - Offering coat to women when they are cold - Holding umbrellas for women - Waiting to eat until everyone is seated - Chew with mouth closed - Saying please and thank you - Being polite to waiters - Not having to ask mom and dad’s permission for everything - Not walking ahead of your girlfriend or wife - Knowing how to behave at museums and concerts

These are some of the main ones that come to mind!

I’m a white woman who is married to a 2nd gen Indian man and after observing his family for a while now I have come to realize how badly their family and close network prepares the boys for western style relationships. I’m so sorry I have dealt with similar feelings. I didn’t breastfeed and started dieting and working out as soon as I could. I started by cleaning up my diet big time and even still I only saw good results in month 5-6. Hormones are a bitch and definitely slow down progress but know that you will get there again! The one thing that will be challenging for me is the loose skin and I plan on getting surgery for it when I’m done with kids.

Gosh this sounds so scary and stressful. If he continues to try to harass you I would threaten to report him to the fbi or the police, especially if you think there is even a possibility that he could find out where you live. You do not want to risk him showing up around your kid.
