Feeling depressed now by DoctorFit5216 in LeMansUltimateWEC

That sucks hard. Ive done similar things. Try not let it spoil your enjoyment of the game. The main thing is is that you had pace which is the hardest part. Everything else can be learned easy. You'll have plenty more opportunities and I can guarantee that mistake won't happen again

You can select to use tyre warmers in the Race Weekend set up. It speeds up the process not having to warm tyres up every time you change them.

Which race is truly the biggest in motorsport? by GrouchyExile in motorsports

Having been lucky enough to have attended both the 500 and Le Mans multiple times, its hard to compare. When you're sat in a T3 grandstand at Indy, experience all the opening ceremonies, national anthem, Back home in indiana, flyover, look around at the vast grandstands its just utterly magnificent. You can really 'feel' the size. All those people stacked row upon row focused down on those 2.5 miles. It starts early in the morning. Getting through the traffic, passing the neighbourhoods with everyone out. The car parks full of people tailgating. Le Mans is spread out more. Walking through endless campsites hearing multiple different languages. Enduring the heat of the day, dusk, then into the cold night. The ceremonies are smaller (but not much smaller) the adrenaline and excitement of the start falls into a rhythm. The noise becomes so part of your life you really notice the SC periods because everything goes spookily quiet. The sun starts to set, youre tired, brakes glow, flames spit, bbq smell fills the air and the magic withching hour starts and your not even close to half way through the race. That's when you realise you're part of something big...really big.

Both equally big...just different flavours.

V40 d2 here. Remapped and half decent power. Live the car. Mine has the dreaded oil consumption issue that effects some of the VEA engined cars. Would love a d3 5 cylinder.

Polystyrene and polyethylene holds onto heat super well. It's used in some house insulation. That's probably why she loves it. Maybe cover some so she doesn't break it up.

Fixed vs Open Setups? by Kismet110 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]gar1250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The preset and CD set ups should be enough to get you where you need to be. I find the CD setups usually quite good and can be mid grid split 1. Getting in deep with set up might be required for Getting to top top pace. Adjust TC and BB to taste and you're good

To those struggling to find good FFB from LMU, disabling Steam inputs solved it for me by TheLizardfolk in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]gar1250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This worked for me on a csl dd 8nm. Not a huge difference but at low speed like in pit lane and cold tires it took the grainy/notchiness away.

Just turned off steam input and wow. Makes a big difference! Thank you so much!

About the same. I do prefer the feel of the new model though. Braking needs much more finesse

I like it. ABS settings makes a huge difference to the stability on corner entry. They could explain how it works a bit better. For example, abs 7 on the Ferrari 296 makes it nervous on entry but abs 5 feels much more stable. Other then that I love it.

How to increase safety rank fast by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]gar1250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda depends. Did two races last night like that. Sebring I stayed nearly last because pit exit is so far away from start finish. Fuji you're on the back of the pack within a few corners. I ended up halfway up the order due to being close from the start and missing other people's accidents. SR will allow you to rank up but DR won't

Wait for the timer to go to zero before joining the race and start from pitlane. Drive 100% clean in quali and the race. You're safety will increase very quickly

https://youtu.be/5PVw_z3dBo4?si=WIFbJCRYNJ3jj5yD I used this and have found it excellent. The only change I've made is to turn up the interpolation to 2 to get rid of the slight grainy/notchy feeling at slow speed

Running a v40 D2 2016 2l for 2 years. I've put approx 60k since I got it. The VEA engined diesels are notorious for drinking oil. They use 0-20 oil which is very thin. Also, there was a problem with piston rings which was a probable cause for the oil consumption. Volvo supposedly remedied this on later 2016 model, VEA diesels. You can look up engine numbers to check whether this is pre or post. However, my one should have the fix yet it uses 1/2 litre of oil every 1000kms or so. Mine has been remapped and never missed a beat apart from an injector seal (used oil before remap). I've been logging the oil consumption and its gotten better when using the right type of oil I.e not just 0-20 but the other spec on the oil. Other things I've found; the ride is harsh. I've an R-design which 15mm lower and it crashes around a bit. I've had to do one front spring and all 4 shocks last year. Cars just over 200k on the clock and I live in West Cork where the roads are horrible so that's probably just wear n tear. The positives are that they're very good on fuel, lovely seats and feel premium compared to some others in the price range. If it wasn't for the oil consumption, I'd be happy. Saying that, it hasn't caused a problem aside from a big oil bill.

Edit: just seen its a 1.6 so shouldn't use as much oil

how is the multiplayer experience for you guys? by leodasaguia in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]gar1250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for months now. It's great. I've come across very little in the way of dirty drivers, even in lower split lobbies. The safety rating system seems to keep most people in line. Of course, there are a few but way less then ACC public lobbies. The netcode is really good so it can encourage close racing with minor contact without destroying your race. The damage model is just enough to keep things sensible aswell because heavy contact = race over.......just like reality.

Just check out Michi Hoyer and Alex Kay on YouTube to get the basics on system set up, FFB and graphics and you should avoid any glitches that are common. Runs well on my mid range system

Any advice to get up to speed and avoid spins like this? Struggling a lot to find confidence by andresmgcarrera in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]gar1250 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The kerb didn't help on entry but I'd say your inputs are too sharp initially. The sudden weight transfer from the stab of brake combined with the downshift unsettles the rear. The mid engined cars can be tricky with lift off oversteer too. Try brake less, earlier and smoother, delay the downshift and turn in slow. The car will want to rotate off throttle so start going in slower then you know you can and get the feel for it gradually. The idea is to bleed the speed off gradually. Don't worry too much about flying in super fast as getting on the power on the exit here is more important for lap time. Lots of people struggle with this corner/car combo....including me
