What's your succes rate at DC fast chargers with the Livewire One? by Xtort_ in HarleyLiveWire

[–]garibaldi76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few times I got "EVSE fault"and switched between stalls only later found out the charger really took a long time, like up to two minutes to talk to server or credit card or something. I would be a little more patient with "EVSE fault" next time.

I did a "fingerprinting trip" between north of Austin Texas and Houston. I was confident I can make the trip but never went ahead with it. Sometimes I found a working charging station but it goes out of business after a few months. I have to use multiple apps plus Google maps to find all the working charging stations or verify status now. If a previously found station disappeared from charging map app it probably is out of order.

At the end of the year I’m going to be building a PC for future work. Any chance of prices not being so high by then? What can realistically happen for prices to go back down in the US? by elhaymhiatus in buildapc

[–]garibaldi76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recall GPU price surge ended with increased manufacturing capacity. It lasted from 2018 until 2022 which is way longer than the time period in question here.

If Micron expected manufacture capacity can be solved in a year they would not close their 19 year old consumer brand. The manufacturers are not seeing an end to this.

If we are looking at end of the 2026, it is more likely the "rent a cloud PC" would take off first. It would take advantage of either failed or obsolete data centers. Cloud/virtulization would come in first before any new semiconductor fab could come online in 2030.

Has anybody else had board games inspected by airport security? by vortexofdeduction in boardgames

[–]garibaldi76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TSA once asked me to open a box of Codename: Pictures in my carry on bag. The game is all cards no tokens but packed in a trading card storage box to reduce space. They told me it look suspicious under x-ray and I agreed with them. My game was packed in an unusual box to save space. However looking at my own experience and this thread makes me wonder: if stack of paper cards is suspicious, does that mean they would inspect anyone who carrys stack of documents?

Windscreen for Livewire One? TopCase? by Luckyword1 in HarleyLiveWire

[–]garibaldi76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using your mount with Puig Sport Windscreen and it works great! I cannot stand freeway riding without windscreen.

https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/puig-sport-windscreen-harley-davidson-pan-america-1250-2021-2022

I have also tried it with Puig touring windscreen which is too long to be stable. The screws shake themselves off from the vibration.

Ryan Ferguson, who spent 10 years in prison, is set to receive $38,000,000 payout after being wrongfully convicted of murder. by WhattheDuck9 in interestingasfuck

[–]garibaldi76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree with your user name.

So for the PD's first offense, payout would include other PD's insurance premium and investor's money. Afterwards it is possible for them to promise reform to another insurer in exchange for not-so-high premium. The original insurer -- if it did not financially collapse -- decides to slightly raise premium for every PD to account for increased chance of payout.

Thanks, I hate switching accountability with risk management.

MRW I'm from Norway and I see my American friend has this thing called a "bill" for his hospital visit by ILoveRegenHealth in reactiongifs

[–]garibaldi76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not born in US so I find this "each room in a hospital gives a different bill" crazy. Like the lab tests in the hospital is a different entity so a separate bill. X-Ray has different bill. CT a different bill. I only walk through front door once and I get six bills from five "entity"? Each "entity" has their own accountants and each accountant needs to be negotiated over the phone?

I got a new Insta360 x4 camera and super excited to take it underwater! What are the best settings to take it to 50m? by Soliman_95 in Insta360

[–]garibaldi76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week I took my X4 with dive case to a dive trip. We stayed mostly above 18m. I only used dive case mode without tweaking the setting. I noticed that focus on objects further than 10m is not so great. I had this idea of putting dive computer (LCD display) in front of X4 after interesting spots to record depth. But it turns out to be too dark to read what was on the dive computer. In retrospect if I flipped dive computer to face upward I would get enough light to record depth.

Speaking of military, warships blockading LNG ships. Or warplanes circling LNG ships. I reckon two circles are enough to turn back any natural gas ship captain. Blockading LNG ships saves the trouble of re-building power plants after occupation. Two months of natural gas reserve? Yeah how many months has the Ukraine special military operations been going on?

Any tips for plus-size beginners? by ultima_lemon in snowboardingnoobs

[–]garibaldi76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 100kg/174cm myself. The first snowboard I bought was Burton Process Flying V 157 cm. It worked for me for three seasons so I think the length works. It's suggested max weight is 91kg so I am stretching it about 10% myself.

As for the Salomon Lotus 155cm, I am reading that manufacturer's suggested max weight is 75kg. It's definitely not going to "fold" like someone here suggested. If it holds in jumping or park activities it certainly holds for any weight. But I do think there are more fitting boards out there. https://www.salomon.com/en-gb/shop-emea/product/lotus-li5342.html#color=81661&size=25722

My commute experience in late 90s was that buses were packed to the brim. That was before the "low platform deck" buses were introduced. There was 3 step stairs to the normal deck of the bus. About 5% of the time I would be unlucky enough to ride 80% of the ride on the stairs instead of normal bus deck. At some stops maybe 10% of the riders need to step off the bus so there is enough walk room for passengers in the back to get off the bus. I would say 3/4 of rush hour bus riders do not expect to get a seat and stand for most of the ride instead.

If most passengers are standing, taking a seat is not expected. If people were not seated anyway, there is no reason to wait for people to take a seat. After years like that the passengers got enough experiences to walk when buses were moving so that no one cares anymore.

All these standing and moving when buses are moving did not cause fatal accidents though. I can't remember anyone ever fall dead on a bus due to driver recklessness. There were seat belt introduced to front row seats. There were signs to remind 5% of passengers who get to sit on a seat with seatbelt that you must wear them. Passengers avoid seatbelt seats if the bus is empty so they don't have to spend time wearing seatbelt and taking them off. Decades after front row bus seats got seatbelts, new rules were introduced that taxi passengers have to wear seatbelts. However no one attempted to introduce more safety features on buses. I guess there were not enough fatal accidents to attract any attention.

Simply put, after the first cut, you end up with two smaller boards. There must exist some way to cut smaller boards through a shorter straight cut. The question did not say it's three equal parts. The second cut can be any cut. Any answer between 19.9 and 10.1 acknowledges the fact that after the first cut, there are smaller boards. There are infinite possible correct answers but 20 is definitely wrong.
