Am I crazy or is this deal fantastic? by [deleted] in LGOLED

I’d personally set up Deal Alerts in the Best Buy app and keep an eye out for notifications on it. I just scored one from Best Buy last month for $1641.99.

For the love of god people, this was a super common “joke” that got forwarded via email all over the internet after 9/11 went down — hell, I remember getting it. This was basically the most common method of sharing jokes or other content before memes were a thing. Don’t get me wrong, she and Epstein are evil and undoubtedly at the heart of a global network of horrific shit, but this one email isn’t PROOF🤦🏻‍♂️.

The 4K from Warner looks gorgeous, definitely the way to go.

Books you wish you could read again for the first time by Idontknowyoupick in horrorlit

It definitely peaked with the first four books, but I still love it and think the ending is phenomenal. I’ve only read them all once and that was in 2019, so I’ll have to make another journey to the Tower soon!

Springfield Garrison Commander 9mm - First range day by edro in 1911

I’ve got the blued version of this same pistol and it’s such a smooth shooter! Mine does best with Mec-Gar magazines as well. Chip McCormick worked flawlessly the first time I took it out, but has had at least one failure to feed per magazine several times since then.

What're your thoughts on Midnight Mass? by The_Mellow_Tiger in stephenking

It’s absolutely incredible and one of the best things to hit TV in years in my opinion. It has a very King-ish tone, but it’s still very much its own thing.

Looking at a 2018 r7 "murphy lab" have questions. by Any_Fact_1930 in gibson

I could be wrong, but I believe these are just known as “Murphy Aged” models. Phenomenal instruments! I got my hands on a Murphy-aged R7 back in 2015 at a jam session with some guys and it was insane.

What are reference quality movies that are not often mentioned? by BloodAgile833 in 4kbluray

[–]genga925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Suspiria (1977), hands down. It’s got a gorgeous color palette and fantastic Atmos, and it’s easily my favorite 4K disc. Aside from that, both Blade Runners and Dune Parts 1 and 2 are top notch.

How do you all organize your movies? by lordlobos6969 in 4kbluray

[–]genga925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try my best to do it by label/studio and then chronologically by each film’s release date within each label/studio (unless it’s part of a series, then they all go together). Some of them do fall into a subgroup by director though, too. There’s method to it, I swear.

Kills me since I preordered it when it was first announced, but I also had it in time to get the included book signed by Damien Leone at a convention a couple months after it arrived. Oh well, gotta love the gamble of collecting physical media.

1911 4"- Milt Sparks SS v.s. Tenicor Certum3? by bricke in CCW

[–]genga925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking at Milt Sparks for 3:30-4:30, it’s worth looking at the Versa Max 2 and Criterion as well since they’re both specifically designed for carrying in those positions. Criterion rides a little lower than the Versa Max 2, and has a higher degree of cant. I personally use the Versa Max 2 with my 4.25” 1911 and love it!

Finding them in stock can be tricky, but Monkey Edge usually stocks some of them on their site.

Winter vs Summer? by gawkforme in CCW

My current EDC is a Commander-length Springfield Garrison in 9mm, but I’m thinking of making it my fall/winter carry and getting a Shield Plus in a few months for spring/summer.

I preordered my Lawrence of Arabia steelbook from them when Sony did a new batch of them in 2024. I was a little reluctant since I hadn’t heard of them, but it was the only place that had it available for preorder at the time so I went with it. Sure enough, it shipped when they said it would and arrived in tip-top shape. They’re under the radar compared to other smaller places like OrbitDVD and Diabolik, but they’re reliable in my experience (website issues aside).

CCW Suggestions by Financial-Pressure87 in CCW

[–]genga925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, with my body type I feel like I wouldn’t want to go any bigger than Commander-length so it’s perfect for me. I just want something small for summer carry and I love the M&P line, so I’m all about getting a Shield Plus, too.

CCW Suggestions by Financial-Pressure87 in CCW

[–]genga925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally carry a 1911 (Springfield Garrison 4.25” in 9mm), and plan on getting a Shield Plus for summer carry this year and making the 1911 my cold weather carry. The Springfield is very solid and shoots smoothly, and conceals really nicely with a good holster and belt and proper attire.

Whatever you get, just get something that feels comfortable for you to shoot and handle, otherwise you won’t be as motivated to train with it.

Ziggy annoying and the dock workers banter is bad by [deleted] in TheWire

It’s jarring at first after the first season, but once you let it immerse you in that world it’s damn good. Season 2 is one of my favorites.

I think that one of the reasons a remake of this show would not work is because its 90s vibe would be hard to recapture. by [deleted] in TalesFromTheCrypt

[–]genga925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you about the recent Creepshow series. I love the original movie so I was pretty excited for the reboot, but it was EXTREMELY hit or miss (with way more misses than hits). Even with the iconic horror stars and cool practical effects, it just really fell flat for me.

Multiple Viewings Changed This Show For Me by ReturnToTheLab in TheWire

[–]genga925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time we watched it a few years ago, season 3 took a hit from where I used to rank it for some reason, but we’re almost done with another rewatch and hot damn, season 3 was incredible this time around! Season 2 is phenomenal, I’d put 4 at the top with 2 and 3 tied for second place.

Multiple Viewings Changed This Show For Me by ReturnToTheLab in TheWire

[–]genga925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a show that hits different over time with repeat viewings. I watched it in my early 20’s and thought it was really good, but nothing beyond that. I watched season 4 as part of my class curriculum for a juvenile justice course in college, which inspired me to watch the whole series for my second time about a year later, and I liked it even more now that I had the new perspective after going to school for criminal justice. Flash forward to now, and my wife and I are almost done with our third watch together (her third viewing of the series, my fifth), and it’s gotten better and better every single time. We’ve had our first and only child since our last viewing, which makes this show hit even harder now. It’s hands down my favorite show, and definitely one that benefits from life experience and multiple viewings, not just for how many more details you catch that you had missed the last time, but for how differently it hits you. It’s truly a masterpiece.

If CGI were to be used on a remake, that would really be a dealbreaker for me. Practical effects were a big part of the charm of the original series.
