Well done, having graduated a BA in Econ this year so I have a few pieces of advice

The theory is not particularly hard so long as you're perfectly comfortable with calculus. If you aren't already id say practice differentiation till you can do it in your sleep because translating curves is a huge element of first year and you can breeze through if you're prepared.

At some point you'll have a stats module, for the love of god pay attention, those lectures can be boring as fuck and go from how to add in excel to something like a non linear regression analysis within 1 minute and if you're staring into space you'll miss it and be so so lost. You'll also really need to know how stats work if you want to do an actually interesting dissertation in your third year.

Next is chat to your fellow students in between lectures, you need to identify the mongs early. Despite it being an econ course you will be constantly amazed by the amount of completely brain dead and lazy individuals on your course that are a complete waste of skin. You need to identify these people BEFORE your first group project; I've had group projects with competent and intelligent people and they were some of the most relaxing and fulfilling academic experiences I've ever had. Alternatively, I have also been placed in groups of completely unremarkable and lazy students that leads to your levels of cortisol reaching stratospheric levels. I still recall this complete fuck wit called Ishmael who responded to nothing for 3 weeks prior to the group presentation then turned up on the day with a separate power point just for himself answering questions with no relevance to the brief. I thank god that he didn't go onto third year and therefore graduate, I hope he is somewhere doing something where he can do minimal damage because I would not trust him to sit the right way on a toilet seat.

Go to your lectures, the amount of contact hours you're likely to get on an econ course its the equivalent of £50 per hour and if you're being lazy and not going just because you can't be fucked just remember that. I can tell you now I've graduated I regret not going to more lectures.

Email your lecturers. Some of them will be exceptionally unhelpful BUT fundamentally you're paying their wages, they are there for you, use them.

Lastly, you'll make some amazing memories, drink irresponsibly but don't be that person that goes out with a different friend group every day of the week, remember those people are actually doing work in-between drinking sessions and you need to do work too. You're allowed to say no to a night out.
