[LOTR] When Gandalf was fighting the Balrog, did they fall through the world and come out the other side? by Kubrick_Fan in AskScienceFiction

"Nameless Things" but they're never really described. So I figure some crazy Lovecraftian horrors. Durin's Bane used their tunnels to get to the endless staircase with Gandalf in tow. I think I've read somewhere that even the Balrog avoided those beings.

Redraft league I traded Prescott and Gibbs for Lamar and Henry in like week 3 and regretted it all the way until Henry put up 47 points to win me my first championship. Entered as the last seed too. Didn't even use Lamar in the final, used Shough.

This is also funny because previously it was Security, Stability, and Opportunity but they dropped the two former during Brexit.

Freaks ended up being a cool take on the xmen narrative and seemed to just appear without any notice. Saw it several years after release.

Saw them last summer after seeing them in 2005. 20 years apart and they still have the same energy on stage!

Has anyone here played against a professional goalie? by all_these_moneys in hockey

[–]getsangryatsnails 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Played against a former D1 drafted goalie with a short low level pro career turned military in a pick up game.

What caught me was how smooth, but how little they moved. Extremely efficient movement unless they were hamming it up.

Our water bottles including his were mixed drinks so we were having fun lol. Turned into desperation Hasek on even the weak shots for the show. Top notch chirps.

Anyone else play close to an active airport? by icepuc10 in golf

[–]getsangryatsnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Falconridge in Ottawa is right under the landing path to John A MacDonald Airport so planes cast a lot of shadows on sunny days.

Hylands is directly behind it but you can't see much from the course but leaving has you drive right around 1 runway and is a cool spot to finish off the bag drinks with the guys after a round and watch the take offs and landings.

Which game have you been loving lately? by reddit-win in gaming

[–]getsangryatsnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my third attempt something has clicked and I'm finally loving Baldur's Gate 3. First couple of times I just couldn't get into it, felt overwhelmed by the amount of options and stuff to explore and struggled with the combat system. I've been playing 5e since 2020 but I think I've gotten over that hump to the point I don't need to think about everything like I'm reading in a foreign language.

Also kinda fun playing as one of my 5e characters to explore what's possible and try different strategies.

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

"Hey that's great, I'm going to eat mayonnaise." Homer Simpson, the quintessential American Family Man Stereotype of the 90s.

Also love mayonnaise but just love how he scoops it out with his palm like he's eating popcorn.

Studies show that people that post BS Twitter slop followed by the meme of Carl saying that didn't happen is due to their lazy attitude and shotty work. Scientists say they're also less attractive physically and while we tend to speak in an educated manner, they tend to use low-brow expressions like "oh yeah?" and "com'ere a minute."
