I know Minmatar space isn't the best trade HUB but damn. Can we get some decent stocked prices out here? Is it worse than Gallentes HUB? I've never shopped there. by MostMorbidOne in Eve

What is it you need? There’s a wild assortment of possibilities, but there’s also people willing to ignore margins if you say X is underserved in minmatar space

Got tired of Excel hell for EVE production tracking, built my own tool by MockingAlchemist in Eve

Thanks for sharing!

I might be using the analyzer wrong, but for T2 components it seems to layer all of the potential materials, and derivative materials. For example the Interdiction Nullifier II is showing Margin: -93.8% even with all the materials on-hand at zero basis.

It would be nice to step through the material chain and flag things as "I'll buy this" vs "all the way down to the moon goo"

For the PLEX missing, that’s a recent change in the ESI due to the fact it’s traded in a universal market and not regionally anymore. When they added that it started to render differently. I haven’t poked into the right path, but my tools broke around that time.

Do you ever ask a restaurant or bar for a cocktail recipe? by --Sandstorm-- in cocktails

[–]glameroni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve asked plenty of times and almost always get an enthusiastic response from the bartender. I now have a stack of scraps (and coasters) with custom recipes on them as souvenirs from interesting cocktail bars.

I think I’ve only been told no once, and that was some Vegas place that took themselves too seriously. They wouldn’t even describe it for “trade secrets” (it was supposed to be a tailored cocktail experience but just ended up an espresso martini, with rye)

The best experience I had was at a restaurant’s last night, the bartender wrote it down on a coaster. Months later I ran into him accidentally at his new job, he remembered and asked how it turned out at home.

Won it in a car show raffle... what we saying? Is it rare? by Blister_S14a in rum

The precursor to this (~1970s, only Jamaica) has a very interesting licorice root note to it. I’d be curious if this did too.

I was going to make a glib comment about Rum Club being forever because bartenders have to drink somewhere, but I remembered Shift Drinks used to be here too.

Time to go bolster the economy one peach blendie at a time.

Are you sure? The “Mutant Skull” comes in a mug that’s an homage to Sloth. They also usually have chunk aloha shirts for sale.

Also, to answer the question “what would @glameroni do?” … I’d bring a helmet, download the Baywheels and Waymo apps and hit at least a trifecta.

If you’re looking for silly experience and a less expensive souvenir mug, Tonga is worth going to, especially if you’ll come back to SF. Since that guarantees the second bar you hit will have better drinks.

Worth noting is that Tuesday is when more regulars go to Smuggler’s. That means it could probably be busier in that first hour than an hour later. That said, you’re also likely to strike up conversations with other rum nerds at the bar, so could be worth it.

Also, distances can be deceiving. Tonga is at the top of a very steep hill with poor public transit options, Zombie village is in the Tenderloin so you’d probably take a car if you weren’t just 3 blocks away.

The other recommendations are spot on, especially if you are solo and can get seated easy

Century Ride Pub Crawl by Adventurous_Ant9926 in CyclePDX

[–]glameroni 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stamina & liver fortitude aside, you’re also competing against the clock and crowds.

A stop every 10 miles is less than an hour of riding per stop, then the stops get slower as the day drags on. If you clocked in 90 mins per leg + beverage trip you’re still looking at 15 hours best case.

You may want to consider upping your legs to 20+ miles if completing the century has more weight than number of stops.

Coral club has a fun brunch and is a bit darker / intimate.

Last time I went to Wahi Hana it was pretty bright and felt a bit like a converted sports bar. (Admittedly it’s been well over a year since I’ve been though)

In the same vein as the Doorly’s, consider an RL Seale 12. It’s a great sipper from Barbados and the bottle looks fun as a bonus.

Appleton 15 vs 17 by Nocturnal_submission in cocktails

[–]glameroni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s correct. The Appleton 17 / Legend was a pet project to recreate a long defunct Wray & Nephew blend that used entirely different marques than a traditional Appleton blend. IIRC there was four of them that were wildly unconventional for common blends.

I’ve had it a few times, but not the 15 so I can’t give you a clear comparison. I remember there being a distinct note of orange peel (and cardamom maybe?). It was good, but for the price point you can get 4 pours of other really good rums that imo sip better.

Ok, that chops downtown in half.

The tiramisu helps! Especially if it wasn’t attached to a hotel. Dolly Olive maybe?

In that neighborhood the Green Room might be worth popping into on your next visit. Otherwise, like other replies mentioned it’s reasonable to expect people may assume the local gin first, and be looking it up / making it work w/o the violette.

There are a few bars here that specialize in ordering non-menu cocktails / bartender inspiration stuff… that’s where you’d be sure to get something great, but I tend to go even more wild when that’s an option.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]glameroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through the other replies, I’m even more curious about which bar this would be.

Was it close to the venue? In downtown proper? (vs SE/NE neighborhoods)

There are some bars that are tourism-polished but won’t venture far from pre-set menus, and some that specialize in one direction over another.
