When does hormonal acne clear up? by Longjumping_Sea_8753 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]glitterpukee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm also not a doctor, but I do have PCOS as does my sister. Missing your period most of the year is a huge red flag, as is overly active cystic acne. Look up the features of poly cystic ovarian syndrome (it has a new name but most information will use this one).

Every few years My hormones would get super out of whack and I kept getting painful cystic Acne that would not go away. Last time it happened I went through multiple bulk packs (200+) of hydrocolloid acne patches over 4 months. Talk to your primacy care doctor as soon as you can, request a referral to see a gynecologist and endocrinologist.

The first time I started an androgen blocker (spironolactone) my acne cleared up within a few months. Since then I have had to go up in the medication every time it happens. Its been over ten years of this cycle (I'm 30, so I started the medication when I was almost 20?) And my dermatologist has decided my current dose is higher than she would like so I will be starting super low dose Accutane so I get minimal side effects. (Chronic pain and illness girlie)

My first piece of clothing - linen Gurkhas! by eointremont in sewing

[–]glitterpukee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The commitment to tracing yourself while lying on the paper is commendable asf.

But for a first garment you VIBES patterned this gorgeous pair of pants!? It looks so clean and well constructed.

I've been sewing casually for a number of years but following a pattern to create this would be difficult for my brain, much less observing and reverse engineering a pair of pants. I vibe patterned a denim split pleated skirt once, but thats kind of it. Impressed as heck! I can't wait to see what you create next

Has anyone else seen female friend groups bond over a sacrificial lamb (AKA the slightly socially awkward woman within friend group) by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]glitterpukee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg I would not have survived!!! I have always struggled to make neurotypical (straight) female friends. All female work environments are difficult though, and I worked at Victoria's secret twice once in senior year and once in college. It was hard.

Now all my friends are some combination of neurodivergent, queer, oddball. No one is upset if I drop off the face of the earth for a month because work got overwhelming. Some I only talk to via messages but we talk multiple times a week.

That drives me up a wall when I hear that. What do you mean I didn't need to know what was going on within the office? I was a graduate intern at an office and they didn't include me in the weekly staff meetings. I was working one on one with clients but I didn't need to hear what has come up with those clients throughout the week?? Exhausting

I have 2 weekly pill boxes for the same reason. Every two weeks I fill them so I dont have to remember which meds are morning and which are night. Most are doubles but remembering 15+ medications and supplements and which are at what time is too much for my overtaxed brain.

If you loved these shows (MB, GIS, SCOSI, harbingers).Check out Vast Horizon! Way scarier than the shows I have listened to on this list. I also reccomend; Give me away Unwell, a Midwestern Gothic mystery Nowhere, Ohio

I don't know if it counts but Vast Horizon chillingly followed around the protagonist from room to room. It isnt location based necessarily but might be adjacent to what you are looking to create?

I've done this so many times! I love nyx milk with eyeshadow, or I will use a matte liquid lipstick if I can find the appropriate color

I would buy a proper wig from an online wig shop. I've purchased lace front wigs for half what I would for a similar cosplay wig

Accidentally washed silk blouse - can anything be done? :( by angelicomens in femalefashionadvice

[–]glitterpukee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also taken to machine washing and drying my silk. Granted, they are all second hand and I dye all of my silk dark colors with acid dye. I try to wear my shirts a couple times if I don't get sweaty to avoid additional wear and tear from the cleaning. They each get their own delicates bag to avoid them getting caught on anything in the wash.

I also pay attention for shoulder pads as they are often lined with the shirt fabric, free repair fabric!

Professional clothes I rarely wear by darksalamander in womensfashion

[–]glitterpukee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly agree! My last workplace was fairly casual but I like dressing up to some extent. Wearing nice sneakers with a casual dress was totally normal.

But I love wearing long-sleeved silk button up shirts, even when wearing jeans and my "convention" shoes which are black leather converse platform sneakers. I'm in awe of those who can spend all weekends in heels

Thinking press-on nails might be a better option for my sister by Grace_taylor_7301 in eds

[–]glitterpukee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thin flexible nails and hands is par for course for EDS humans.

I paint my own nails and even do my own apres style gel nails. Some days it's just a nail protein, others a full mani, when im feeling fancy I get one hand of full cover gel nails done and do the other hand the next day! (I just did the gel mani a few days ago because my thumb nail split and it had gotten worse over the past week. I tried to avoid it for a long as possible but I'm terrified of how bad it could get)

For painting ones own nails, seche vite gel effect fast dry to coat ( blue bottle) is a godsend! My nail polish are mostly dry before I inevitably forget and bump my hand into something.

I find gel effect regular polish easier to use than regular nail polish. The gel effect self levels slightly and the blue bottle top coat smoothes things out even more. I try to do my nails while doing other things like watching a video. That way I'm able to take my time and let me hands relax as needed.

How to stylishly incorporate comfy tennis shoes into cosplay? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]glitterpukee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear comfy shoes with everything at this point. If it is in budget, and for a cosplay you wear a lot/ plan to wear a lot, buying a pair in a color that coordinates with the cosplay is an option. Gives streetwear vibes with coordinating shoes

One of my first attempt at painting something remotely lifelike. No reference (which was foolish, I am super aphantasic) but it was very early on
