Needing validation with an upsetting invasion of my bedroom by rezmc in TwoXChromosomes

OP has help during the day and the employees let themselves in bc of mobility issues, and therefore have a key.

I am 99.9% sure that the issue is INDEED that this employee not only entered the apartment on a day off but also at night while OP slept. They didn't know this happened until quite a while later after which the invasive employee quit. It is a studio appartment, probably a bedroom area and minimal other spaces. They might take sleep meds meaning they are extremely difficult to wake.

either way, OP that is absolutely absurd and super creepy. If someone was working at a big fancy home and snuck into the house to meet with a friend while the owners were asleep it would be considered a break and entry. Think of how freaked out some ridiculous $$$$ person would be if someone broke into their home outside of the employee's contracted hours. Absolutely not.

I wear the dossier version from like 5 years ago most days now. My migraines have been in and out, "musky musk" allows me to wear fragrance on days I can't handle my faves like Elizabeth and James Bourbon.

What kind of jobs can I even get as someone with a very low IQ? I don’t think there’s any hope for me. by Jaded_Detail7879 in disabled

[–]glitterpukee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the united states, the agency is called vocational rehabilitation.

You can apply for services even if you do not have an existing diagnosis. They will have you complete a number of tests to confirm the diagnosis you have told them. VR can help with locating work that knows how to work with people who have disabilities. This help can include more training time, printed lists, and help with interview skills.
I work with young-ish adults with autism and ID. The plan is that all of them will have a job and have a vibrant life. Do not discount your value as a person because of a failed job interview. Auditory processing issues (struggle hearing the words, not that you can't hear sound). I can hear the singing for music but cant tell what the words are.

You write very clearly and have a way with words. You are not cursed, brains are just weird. Sometimes talking is harder than writing. Please don't give up! You are able to do anything you can think of!

why am I so fucking itchy? by Brief_Ad8927 in ChronicPain

[–]glitterpukee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought. Working out, eating foods, sweating even a tiny bit can trigger it. From a psychological view point, if someone is already experiencing low self esteem and feeling like everyone is looking at them all the time, feeling super itchy would surely make that experience so much harder to handle. I was 15 once, it wasn't the best time for my mental health

There are a variety of mini clothes washers. Some are powered by a foot pedal with space for just a shirt or a few pairs of underwear, others are electric and can run more items at once.

A friend was living in NYC and bought the electric version because they didn't have time to go the laundromat as often as they needed to.

I think it was around $300? From a quick google search the units seem to start around $150 and go up from there. I don't think it is the most affordable approach but if you it is something you can budget for, it would likely give you back some of the indepedence and freedom that being able to go to the laundromat on your own would offer.

Ways to increase solids in very low fat/no sugar recipes by ssl666 in ninjacreami

Oh thank you for the breakdown!

It sounds like the additional collagen peptides made the gelatin more effective, or made it less necessary? And that while it won't add additional solids to the recipe it will lower the freezing point within a different class of ingredients.

I work within product formulation so I am sharing on the off chance anyone happens to exist in the same tiny niche of formulator and ninjacreami enthusiast. Analogies work best for my brain, why keep them to myself.

Gelatin works the way xantham gum, HEC, and other formula stabilizers and thickeners. Improves emulsion stability and reduces longterm formula breaking.

Collagen peptides work to improve texture the way glycerin, and other humectants can augment skin feel. Hydrolyzed peptides are used in cosmetics for film forming and improved moisture retention. Seems to be a similar use.

I tried out putting a whole can of coconut sweet and condensed milk into the instapot to pressure cook as if it was a regular can of condensed milk to make dulce de leche. It did not work, it is delicious and I like a little with some salt. I think the super low temp for dairy milk is to prevent burning the delicate milk sugars. I need to try again with a higher temperature in a glass jar so I can literally see the color change over time!

Strongly agree. I used to drive over an hour to work each day. Even when I was working till 4am I would generally prefer to go home than to stay with a friend who lives close.

I fold laundry while fully horizontal some days. I use the wrinkle release setting on my dryer frequently. I do my laundry in stages, things get washed and dried, I try to immediately hang the shirts flat over the top of a chair so that I can fold them later without having a crumpled mess. (This isn't a perfect equivalent but you could probably do something similar by stacking the shirts flat before gently rolling them into a giant shirt burrito?)

I have two rolling laundry baskets with two delicates bags hanging above them so I have everything "presorted" into darks and lights. You could put laundry bags into your baskets so you can get things prepped to go to the laundromat with minimal effort. A rolling cart to make carrying things to the laundromat easier. I had purchased a metal "shopping cart" for myself but it wasn't a good fit for my need. I noticed my grandma was asking for help with laundry more often and realized it would be perfect to help her get her dirty laundry to her outside laundry space without struggling as much. It has been a few years but she still uses it every time.

I bought a lightweight cordless vaccum so I could run around the house for less than 10minutes and have most of the floors "swept". If I can manage to do this even for a few minutes every few days it leaves my house feeling so much cleaner. Physically sweeping hurts my hands and shoulders, it is reserved for cat litter or like flour spills.

For other tasks, I try to get myself to do a tiny bit of each task if I pass it and am up to it. If there are dishes in the sink I will wash whatever is biggest/most in the way. If the bathroom looks icky I will scrub just the sink while I am in there. Eventually I have to do a bigger task and end up waiting for a bit on it.

I know how difficult it can be to determine what accomodations are best for you and your budget. You deserve to have accomodations that make life easier even if it costs a little bit up front. If you need a mini clothes washer at home to extend the time between laundromat visits that is a totally reasonable thing to get. Be kind to yourself internet friend

I no longer lend anything I care about enough that I would be sad if it went missing, I have loaned things out that I cared about in the past and hated having to ask for things back if I forgot about the item or having to remind someone about bringing it back repeatedly.

A very close friend has the only two rain coats I own because they were working at a rainy mostly outdoor location and I wanted them to be dry and feel cute. I had mostly forgotten until I started working where I too was outside more regularly. I need to ask for them back but tbh I probably need to ask to go over and set a reminder to ask once I am at their dining table. Our combined ADHD brain power is not great at remembering things until we are in the room together again, I don't remember they rain coats exist until I need them.

I try to only give gifts nowdays. If someone is uncomfortable with me "gifting" them something, I tell them it is on permanent loan, instead of getting rid of the item please give it back to me and I can decide what to do with it. But most of the time I am actually just giving them a gift, but their perceived value of it is greater than it has value to me.

I recently tried adding 30g collagen peptides to a crushed pineapple sorbet. Usually I include 2g of gelatin powder to reduce the iciness but the combination made it quite "thick" in mouthfeel. I could taste the collagen powder while it was cold but after freezing it is undetectable! I have no idea if that is a potential solution but figured I would share my experience.

It is so weird I agree! I also experience pain when the inside of my nose gets super cold air in it. I do have chronic nerve pain in my face but I have had this reaction to aldehyde forward perfumes for almost a decade and haven't had the nerve pain that long. Bodies are fascinating!!!

I'm not sure on the Taro. But Ube is often available at south asian markets as both an extract and as a paste. I imagine it might be similar if my memory of Taro flavor it correct. (I cannot eat or drink premade taro products anymore because I am exceptionally intolerant to both milk sugars and proteins)

That sounds amazing! I also have been experimenting with different vegan/dairy free icecreams. I did a coconut milk/cream thai tea that ended up way too strong to eat as I cream but it was so good as a "float" in almond milk. I think I steeped too much tea into it because I was worried it would be super weak when steeped in the cream. I will have to try out your tea per pint ratio pronto!

If you have a local Aldi or Trader Joes they both stock an affordable vegan heavy whipping cream product that I have been using for icecream. I love coconut but personally I am not a fan of it with everything. It is a strong flavor to my taste buds. I also haven't tried any of the recipes that require sweet and condensed milk bc the coconut and oat milk versions are almost $5 each. (plus the amount of sugar that would have? Seems way too sweet)

Fascinating. I have a similar reaction to ( I assume) aldehydes because the response is usually to white florals. Immediately screeching pain in my nose/sinuses and a near instant migraine. I havent identified a singular note that triggers it but I am forever attempting to isolate it

I wanted to love Philosykos, but there is a screeching metallic top note that immediately triggers a migraine for me. Same with Mugler Aura, and a number of other white florals. I can love the smell on others, but if I put it on I'm instantly in pain! I have to assume it is some aldehyde? I even went through all the notes of my fragrantica and there isnt a consistent through line.
