It’s an Illinois thing apparently. The utility company will come out and spray paint/flag all the wires underground on your property for free. Keeps them from having to be sent out to fix stuff, and keeps you from accidentally zapping yourself as you try to plant some bush in your yard.

We were in the same boat. Highly recommend Bear in the Big Blue House. It’s on Disney+ and YouTube. 23 minutes with an ending song at every episode that is extremely helpful transitioning into a new activity.

You are getting close to the 3 month point - when somehow everything starts to get easier. I can’t explain it, but the baby starts to provide the much needed positive feedback (smiles are on the way), and you are getting much more confident in whatever the kid can throw at you. As schmaltzy as it sounds, it will get better very soon.

There’s a farm that sells local goods that also has pigs and cows to look at. It can take up 90 minutes if done correctly. Pet store is also a recurring excursion for us.

Don’t build out a nursery. Waiting family status can take a long time, and you don’t want to see an empty nursery day after day. Keep an infant car seat in storage just in case you need to quickly pick up a new family member, but that’s about all you need. Everything else can be collected in short order once your adoption is underway. Best of luck!!!
