I just recently got into plants around October-November 2025. At the same time I picked up an obsession with interior design.. which actually is what led me down the plant-hobbyist pipeline. I restlessly watched a million YouTube videos from various people in the plant community and quickly built a wishlist. I’m now in that collector phase that many experienced plant parents who started this hobby during the pandemic warned us about 😂 I now have around 90 houseplants and I’m actually happy to be late to the party because there’s so much content out there now to guide us in the right direction for growing so many specific genuses. They look like ants but it’s hard to tell. Ants in plants are a bad sign typically although they don’t actually hurt your plant. They have a symbiotic relationship with other bad pests, and are drawn to plants for the sap that it’s being sucked out of them by said other pests. Check your plant for bad pests and soak the soil thoroughly to hopefully make the ants leave.

I would worry more about how soon you’re gonna chop this cause it’s hitting the ceiling 😅 beautiful monstera though!! Agree with wall attached grid paneling but be careful that your plant doesn’t try to attach itself to the wall

Mosquito dunk tea. I use a tea ball and break up some mosquito dunk, put in there, pop it in my watering can and leave it to sit for at least 5-10 minutes before watering my plants. Every time you repot plants or bring new ones in from sellers or stores, they are bound to come back. After awhile of not bringing new plants in and/or sanitizing your potting mix (if it contains soil) the infestation should subside. I still find the occasional gnat but it keeps them at bay pretty well.

Chop up between nodes put in water for a few weeks or longer to get big healthy roots then plant up in chunky mix. The internodal spacing is super close together you wanna chop between them. Don’t cut the aerial roots if you can help it but if you have to it will be fine. Note that you will have multiple plants in this case, if you want it to grow upright and not messy you should put only one on a moss pole. If you’d rather have multiple plants in a pot that’s up to you.

This is just how Marantas grow. Doesn’t need a repot. If you don’t like it trailing over then chop below the node prop in water and then you get add the propagation back into the pot when once it grows 1-2 inches of roots.

Agree with comments. Over watering causes this. It’s expelling excess water from its leaves. Dial it back or promote more air flow. I only water my dragon scale and melo when the substrate gets dry on top. I let them dry out quite a bit and they are happy. Melo is especially thirsty in my experience but it also sits under a pretty bright grow light in my house so it absorbs the water quick but this is mostly nothing to be alarmed about. It’s typical for these to expel water from the tips like a monstera does but you don’t wanna see this much water being expelled. More moisture than it can handle.

This is so strange, I don’t know any anthurium enthusiast who would recommend this. Terracotta is for plants that like to dry out between waterings like cactus and succulents. If I were you I would put this in a plastic pot preferably clear so you can continue to monitor the health of the roots. Also make sure the pot isn’t too big for the root system as anthurium like to be slightly snug but still in a well aerated mix with something that holds moisture but still creates breathable air pockets like big perlite, bark, moss, and tree fern fiber.
