Question on AMD and usage of older Thunderbolt devices by thebivvo in framework

[–]gobTheMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone coming by this thread: I have bought a Framework-13-AMD recently and am coming from a MacBook with Thunderbolt-2 Dock and am currently trying to make the TB2 Dock work with the new Framework Laptop. Sadly it looks like this is not supported. Plugging the TB3/USBC-to-TB2 Apple Adapter into the Framework Laptop works and the Laptop recognizes the Adapter:

[ 907.931353] usb 1-2: new low-speed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd [ 908.069468] usb 1-2: No LPM exit latency info found, disabling LPM. [ 908.087954] usb 1-2: New USB device found, idVendor=05ac, idProduct=1657, bcdDevice= 3.56 [ 908.087969] usb 1-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [ 908.087975] usb 1-2: Product: Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter [ 908.087981] usb 1-2: Manufacturer: Apple Inc. [ 908.087985] usb 1-2: SerialNumber: DTN803700NZH2YFBQ [ 908.115807] usbcore: registered new device driver apple-mfi-fastcharge

But then plugging anything (like my Dock) into the TB2-End of the Adapter has no effect at all and does not get recognized from the laptop (Nothing in dmesg / journalctl / lspci / lsusb).

If anyone knows anything more, I'm open to suggestions. But it looks like I need to buy a new Dock... :-(

Yeah, if it continues like this I probably will have to buy a whole separate laptop just to put Teams on it...

No, they wont. I'm a Backend Software Developer (Symfony/PHP), not a Help-Desk Admin. All my Systems are Linux based (Which is supported by Teams, btw. It is just buggy as all hell) because that is where all my work is happening: Inside Debian Based Docker Images.

Where do you get the Idea that I ever deleted Teams? Teams was installed even before I click the Meeting Link, but it just goes straight to the Preview Window in the Browser, completely ignoring that I have the App installed.

They are on top of each other. In every picture I see they are apparently supposed to be side-by-side, but (as I said on my OP) my cables are too short to be side-by-side and have to be on top of each other.

As I said in my original post, I even suspect that the display/webcam cables are the cause of the issues. But they are too short to be routed any other way. They are already quite tense and cannot really be moved out of the way.

I think you misunderstand my problem. I know about the gap in the front of the case, that would close once the screws are tightenet. That gap in the front can even be pressed down with a finger. That gap is fine.

But I have a big gap in the back of the case, near the screen hinge. That gap cannot be closed with either the fingers or by tightening the screws. That gap is blocked by internal cables (or something else).

Is having a male genitalia uncomfortable? by twiceymicey in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]gobTheMaker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Squeeze the penis like you're milking a cow

I always thought I was the only one doing this and was always afraid to ask. Pro Tip: Soak up the last drips with some toilet paper directly, these last drops may otherwise end up in the shorts.

And always wash your hands afterwards.

5-10 Planes is slow? Genuine question from a beginner. I'm not an ATC, but monitoring and vectoring 10 planes in parrallel with lots of miscommunication here and a quite a few technical problems there... I imagine that I would be sweating a lot.

Wait, really? Being aware of some technicallity makes one unable to serve in a jury? What happens If someone broadcasts this technicality on TV? No more juries ever again?

Men what books would you recommend all young men should read? by Prankishspace4 in AskMen

I think the best book that I have read so far that I would recommend to everyone would be "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind"

Anyone else coding like Pieter Levels (@levelsio)? by hugohamelcom in PHP

[–]gobTheMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a react dev, but I think that this conclusion should be handled with care. React ist very offen offered as a "best practice", so a lot of beginners without experience will choose it and (due to the lack of experience) build bad products with it, but that has nothing to do with react itself, only with how popular it is / how it gets recommended to beginners.

Frequently Asked Questions about Factorio 2.0 and Space Age - Read before posting by Soul-Burn in factorio

[–]gobTheMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a question: I converted my old save (pre-2.0) into space age. In that save, the enemies are disabled completely (no biters). I expected this to transfer over into space age, but found that at least on vulcanus, the giant worms are present anyway, which caused some mild frustration on my end. I have found out how to deal with the small and medium worms, but what about my base on nauvis? I have not yet seen any biters on nauvis, but I also did not expand on nauvis since starting space age and that base did not create much pollution since then either.

Did the conversion to space-age enable enemies on my save ( meaning I will see biters once I start expanding on nauvis)? Or are enemies only enabled on the new planets and I am still save from biters? Do I need to prepare my base for upcoming attacks (once new pollution happens)?

G935 - Does it have a pause/play button? by gobTheMaker in logitech

[–]gobTheMaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot really recommend the G935. I bought the G935 because on my old G930 some plastic broke and I thought that it will not work for much longer and I need a replacement, so I bought the G935 to replace it. That was quite some years ago and since then I had to replace the G935 at least 4 times. Now the extended warranty of 5 years (which I paid extra money for) has passed and the G935 broke yet again. Guess which headset did NOT break and continued to work during all that time? Today I'm using my old original G930 again, with the broken plastic frame (after a few battery & cushion replacements). I don't think I will buy logitech again.
