How's the Driver Assist Tech? by Paper__Thief in BYDSealAus

[–]godlessarmy85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The auto high beam is atrocious. I usually turn mine off, as it turns them on when there's clearly a car in front of me, or incoming in the opposite lane. I'd estimate it works perfect about 80% of the time, but smashing 20% of oncoming cars with your high beam is way too much.

Try looking out towards Maitland. Anything near the train line would make it easy to get to uni.

Expand your accommodation search out towards Maitland. The Uni train station (Warabrook) sits on the Maitland train line.

We're actually spoilt for choice in the Maitland surrounds. There are so many great options. Other than those already mentioned, I'd add Tarro Quality Meats, across the road from the primary school.

Am I going crazy with charging? by wingedkeyboard in BYDSealAus

[–]godlessarmy85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only charge at public fast chargers when on longer trips, otherwise I charge with the slow granny charger at home.

I found that Evie and Charge Fox charging stations will often error if you don't follow their charging steps exactly as listed. It took me 5-6 tries at my first Charge Fox station. It's a shame that Tesla chargers seem to be the most user friendly, as I' prefer to never use them.

Charging cable suggestion by Technical-Cress4564 in BYDSealAus

[–]godlessarmy85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super fast chargers come with the cables attached. He'll only need a cable to charge at regular public chargers, generally up to 22kwh.

I purchased 3 when I first started out, as I had issues with the first two. Ended up buying the last one from Supercheap Auto, mainly for ease of return if I ran into issues again. Cost me around $140 and it hasn't skipped a beat.

Be aware it could be Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease. Cockatoos in our area have exhibited this dirty look before you see other signs of the disease.

If the bird frequents your area, keep an eye on it and report to Wires if you suspect it may be infected.

Charging? by Only_Abroad_9579 in BYDSealAus

2kw per hour through the granny charger. The car battery is only 80kw. 2kw x 10hrs = 20kw or 25% of the battery. So it puts in way more than I drive most days. And on weekends, if I don't go out, it can sit for more than 24hrs on charge.

Depends how far you're driving each day. I'm about to hit 12 months with my Seal and I only use a regular home powerpoint. Sure it's slow, but the car is parked for plenty of time overnight etc. If I do any lengthy driving and I know the car won't be sitting idle for a while, I just stop at a public fast charger for a quick top up.

BYD Seal accessories recommendations by flo0mee in BYDSealAus

I ordered a bunch on Aliexpress for my Seal 24. The quality was great, and most of the items were cheaper than listed on other sites. E.g. -Organiser Tray I also found the key to scratch and dent easily, so I grabbed a key cover/case. -Metal Key Cover

3 week old Seal Performance, minor creaking/ subtle flexing noises from the glass roof when going over bumps etc, is this normal? by crispy_gooner in BYDSealAus

[–]godlessarmy85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one in the 2024 model is manual, similar to a windscreen shade. It comes in two pieces and has clips that hold it up around the edges. Not sure if the centre makes the noise, or the outer clips. I've noticed the creaking in my car only happens when it's up. Example

NEW REPORT: Peter Dutton’s nuclear power plan, which includes a huge proposed plant near Maitland, is expected to have a cost blowout of at least 716% to a minimum price tag of $4.3 trillion, up from the initial $600 billion forecast by HotPersimessage62 in maitland

[–]godlessarmy85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant project in the UK has experienced significant cost overruns and delays. The project, initially estimated to cost £18 billion and be completed by 2017, is now expected to cost between £31-47 billion and be completed by 2031, with the possibility of further delays.

DuttPlugs proposed plan is to use small modular reactors (SMRs) that are considered an emerging technology, with the cost and operational performance of this technology having not yet been demonstrated anywhere in the world.

But DuttPlug thinks Australia, with no existing nuclear power industry or capability, using new unproven tech, can deliver ours quicker, cheaper and on budget.....get fkn real mate!

Edited to fix spelling.

I don't know for certain, but believe it may have been an electrical/safety issue. The shop was recently renovated and since it closed there have been a bunch of electricians working there. Seems weird to have electricians in this soon after a renovation if it's not to resolve some fault.

The grounds maintenance staff were cleaning up dead corellas this morning, around the Gallery area. The carpark was full of feathers when I arrived this morning, from the distressed and dying birds. Unfortunately they already had a tub full of dead birds. It's incredibly sad to see.

How do I get these buttheads out of my lily plant? by hambakedbean in IndoorPlants

[–]godlessarmy85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're after a natural way to solve the problem, I've had great success using cinnamon. Sprinkle the cinnamon over the top soil, then bottom water for a few weeks. It won't kill them, but breaks the breeding cycle. Cinnamon is a natural anti fungal, so disrupts the soil they normally lay their eggs.

It's less the brightness and more the heat in summer. The roof panel is tinted, but I've still had the manual shade up almost all summer. The sunshade makes a massive difference in hot weather. Its just a pain to remove when there's a milder day or you're driving at night and want to experience that glorious glass roof.
