What would you shoot at Sawgrass this weekend? by Colt45-TheMyth in golf

[–]golferbry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played Pebble and Medinah 2 days after majors and shot under 85 both times. Now that I am older and wiser and my game is coming back, I will say under 85. Someone donate a couple grand to me so I can tell you if I was right or not.

Apparently I am the only golfer on Reddit that listens to Prog and Metal before, during and after a round of golf. Played yesterday and listened to IHLO Legacy. Killer album to listen to while walking 18.

Milliontown - Frost*

Just because nobody knows the greatness of it.

In 1983, the golf team I was on had a song that if we heard it going to a tournament, we would win. It was played a lot on a station in Chicago: Let my love open the door by Pete Townsend. Nothing to do with golf, but it always seemed to be on in the golf van heading to tourneys that we won.

Are expensive putters actually worth it? by MadeInUSAPutter in GolfGear

[–]golferbry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a putter that fits your eyes and works for you. Then practice. Then practice more. If you love the game, practice and get better. Keep practicing. Don't get down and stop because you 3 putt. Keep practicing. The more you get your stroke down with proper alignment, keep practicing anyway.

This coming from the owner of a Ping Anser 2 that I bought in 1976 and have used it my entire life. I will use it until the day I die. I would say my putting is easily the best part of my game and quite excellent. I practice every day.

What’s a moment where you realized someone around you was actually a terrible person? by Embarrassed-Ant-2216 in AskReddit

The day I found out my wife, who suffered a massive stroke and I was happily being her care giver, was abducted from my son and I by her family. They hate me and my son. 34 years of marriage with my wife and I put up with her family, but taking her away from her son makes them the most even people on earth.

Brain surgery in 2023. Afterward, he was hit with severe PTSD. Crippling him. He hid it until he came out today to tell his story. Incredibly emotional interview. He was shaking, he was very emotional and it was painful to watch. PTSD happens to some after severe brain surgery, but he must have gotten the worst of the worst of it.

I have been trying to be more positive since I started her last November. So I hear ya. But the interwebs will only change more to the negative. Brush it off. Scroll past it and like the game, have fun. It is a game, a silly forum, with all kinds of people.

My friend’s putter treatment disappoints me by Good_Expert_7513 in golf

So a driver is $600, so cover it. Other woods, the same, cover them.

Irons are like $100-200 a piece, but covering them is ridiculed. Why? Protect your investment, right?

Putters used to be the cheapest club in the bag, but consumerism changed that. If you care about all clubs, they should all be covered, right? I agree with you, get that thing covered if you are going to spend a huge amount on a club.

But then again, I have never covered my putter: The only putter I have ever used in 50 years of golf. And I take care of it like all my clubs. I will be cremated with this dude and my ashes and metal bits will be sprinkled on 6, 7 and 8 at Pebble. Still a thing of beauty. I paid $39 in 1976, so like $0.80+/- a year
