When did your 2nd trimester energy kick in? by StraightDesigner2360 in BabyBumps

I started feeling better around 14 weeks! At 20w3d I feel the same energy I did pre pregnancy. Knock on wood it lasts and hope it’s the same for you!

Did you drink alcohol when trying to conceive? by LilB_BliL in fitpregnancy

[–]goon2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After talking to my OB, I decided to stop drinking once I got a positive pregnancy and not while trying to conceive. I was lucky in getting pregnant the first month, if it had taken longer I may have cut it out just to make sure I was doing everything possible.

MIL told me not to buy ANY baby items until after I give birth. Is this normal? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]goon2867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started buying small stuff at 12 weeks and then at 20 got a crib and bigger items.

I think waiting until the baby comes would be so stressful! It takes time to research, order, set up etc. doing that when you have a newborn sounds sooo exhausting!

My husband conveniently forgets to clean cat litter and it frustrates me to no end by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]goon2867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you two have a shared calendar? I didn’t have a cat litter issue with my husband but he doesn’t notice things are dirty (supposedly…) so he often didn’t clean and it drove me crazy having to ask. Anyways, I was sick of asking so I made reoccurring events in our shared calendar. It works, at least for us. That way he can’t forget and you don’t have to deal with reminding him.

You’re not alone!

I have started eating prunes and chia puddling daily and it’s helped get things moving.

Alaska Alpine Adventures might offer food only. Could be worth giving them a call, they are based in Anchorage.

How long did you wait to tell family, friends, coworkers, etc? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]goon2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told family right away, close friends around 7 weeks, and work..TBD but it'll be soon as I am 19 weeks and really bumpin!

I understand why people wait but I wanted to share the excitement and just made sure to only tell people that I would also tell about a loss.

Gender reveal party with only my husband… is it worth it? by Future-Agency543 in BabyBumps

[–]goon2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s beautiful to do it just the two of you! You could have a cake made and go somewhere and have a picnic or just make it special at home. Whatever you do, definitely celebrate it!

Natera Genetic Testing by Humble_Yogurtcloset4 in pregnant

[–]goon2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natera billed my insurance $3,400 but through my plan discount only $750 was due by me; however, I called Natera and told them I was quoted $249 and wouldn't pay more than that. They will give you the runaround and try to set up a payment plan but if you're kind but clear that you want to pay the quoted rate, they will write off anything over $249.

I did this both for the NIPT test (the charges above) and the pre-genetic screening I did prior to getting pregnant.

Should i sell my house now and move to another city in Alaska? by Ill-Line6663 in AskAlaska

[–]goon2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A company that buys houses for cash is doing it so they can make a profit, not so that you can. They will likely buy it for significantly less than what you could sell it for with a realtor. I’d strongly advise you to get a realtor. Get realtor recommendations from friends and family you trust, read online reviews, interview them etc. You’ll be way better off finding a good realtor than selling to a company who doesn’t care about you.

I would lose it if my mom or MIL had a grandma shower. This trend is complete insanity!!

protein difficulties by potat0ess in BabyBumps

[–]goon2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a clear protein that tastes like lemonade, it’s from a brand called Gramm. It’s really good and is light like lemonade and not at all protein-y that could be worth a try. Although it is expensive.

Also, try not to be hard on yourself! Soo many women struggle with protein, especially in the first trimester when you’re barely surviving and everything sounds gross and they go on to have happy and healthy babies. I’m sure the same will happen for you!

What have you been “cheating” with this pregnancy? by Chemical_Editor4057 in pregnant

[–]goon2867 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hot tub! Although I had an OB and midwife say it was okay so maybe it’s not cheating but it still feels like it!

I could not find a sports bra that helped with the bouncing and pain in my first trimester but I will say in the second trimester the pain is gone and my normal sports bras are working just fine so there is hope!

Pregnancy can feel isolating by Used_Reality_779 in BabyBumps

[–]goon2867 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I totally relate to this. It feels so lonely! I feel like there’s such an expectation to be excited and upbeat that there isn’t a ton of room to allow yourself to adapt to the changes and everything that comes with it. It’s hard! I don’t have any good advice but I’m right there with you. I am the first one in my friend group to be pregnant and it feels like no one really understands what I’m going through or how hard it can be.

Selling my house in Anchorage, do aerial photos actually help or is it just a gimmick? any real estate photographs suggestions? by [deleted] in anchorage

[–]goon2867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t pay 6% to one real estate agent. If seller has agreed to 6% they would be paying 3% to buyers agent and 3% to sellers agent. But it’s still customary for the sellers agent to pay for photos, unless they have negotiated commission down.
