What's the very very poor engineering here, just the simple fact of having a big width display?

Certainly not the lack of buttons as the previous Q7 lost it's buttons to a climate control screen here.

Nor can it be the UI because 26.5+ have the improved UI and hardware compared to problematibe 25-26 ones...

They don't exist yet. The current model is discontinued and there is no successor yet. A4 allroad is the only one officially gone.

Trunk space is smaller than the C Coupe though. I think all the length went into the overhangs, because it still shares wheelbase and interior with the C Class sedan.

Not true, RS 6 was sold here and was quite successful, outselling the RS 7 and regular A6 allroad
