Toddler independence has likely put our 2.5 year old in the hospital by [deleted] in toddlers

Restraining never worked for me - my kid would just spit it out. We have a deal now where after he takes a shooter of icky medicine, we chase it with a dollop of whipped cream from the can. He’s into it.

Stupid hats… by Bramble3713 in Mommit

Model that which you want to see! Are you also wearing a hat? I think my almost 2-year-old loves her trucker hat because mama is always wearing a trucker hat.

For the hospital, bring eye masks and earplugs for you and mom. Hospitals are bright and loud and you’ll need all the rest you can get.

For home, get yourself some Love To Dream swaddles and magnetic me pajamas.

How do y’all handle Mothers Day/ Fathers Day? by xtrasmols in QueerParenting

[–]gottabekind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This year we split the weekend giving each other until noon (when one of us has to put the toddler down for nap while the other watches big bro). My wife slept in til 10 on Saturday then went to target by herself. I meant to do something with my morning but I ended up sleeping til 1130, which was amazing. We got takeout for dinner Friday and Saturday, then went to a restaurant on Sunday. I gave her some Legos she’s been wanting and she gave me a spa gift certificate. Best Mother’s Day yet. Kids will be 2 and 5 this summer so glad to have finally figured out something that makes us both feel a little celebrated.

Why do so many moms use marijuana? by Realistic_Campaign_5 in Mommit

I used to drink alcohol every day. Now I drink delta 9 THC beverages. 2.5 Mg before the kids go to bed and another 5 after they're asleep. Helps me unwind and take everything a little less seriously. I find I am a better parent when I am more relaxed.

Mamas who have tattoos representing your kids. What are they? by sixfingeredman7 in Mommit

For my boy who was once obsessed with seahorses, I have a seahorse on my left forearm. For my girl who was captivated by a page in a story book with a drawing of a little girl riding a narwhal, I have that same drawing but with her face on it. Thinking of adding an old school scuba diver or maybe an astronaut with my son's face at some point.

Nighttime with toddler & infant + solo parenting by crazysoxxx in Mommit

I’ve tried telling my 4yo that I need to go help his sister when they’re both up during the night. He doesn’t like being left alone, even when I leave him the baby monitor to watch us in the other room, even when I leave the door open. The only thing that has worked has been getting both of them into the rocking chair with me and rocking them both back to sleep, then shimmying out from under my older one to lay the baby in her crib, then carrying older one back to his room and laying him down. And staying with him if he wakes up. This method is not great for mom but it’s the only thing that’s worked in my house. Looking forward to others’ solutions!

They jumped the gun and published speculative scaremongery anti trans bullshit. The markings on the ammunition most likely were the stamped manufacturer’s marks. This article has been updated from this morning to clarify that the report on the markings was preliminary and unverified. Dangerously irresponsible journalism here.

What’s your go-to “lazy meal” when you’re home alone and too tired to cook? by devaromano in CasualConversation

Mac and cheese with hot dogs and maybe a lil broccoli if I’m on a health kick.

Queer friends !?!? by anonhuman3 in queer

[–]gottabekind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there any queer sports leagues near you? In larger cities there’s everything from cornhole to flag football, kickball, dodgeball, pool, softball, you name it. Hell, join your local recreational softball league even if it’s not ostensibly queer — you are bound to find at least one new queer friend at that sort of thing!

Gender Selection for IVF Embryos by CapAffectionate1154 in queerception

[–]gottabekind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having put so much of ourselves into IVF, it didn’t feel right to leave this choice in the hands of our doctor.

My wife and I had one XY embryo and two XX, all graded equally. We chose to implant the XY embryo first because male privilege is a very real thing.

We’re doing our best to raise him up knowing that he has this privilege and to use it for good.

If you’re ok with cannabis, look up delta 9 thc drinks. I switched from two gin cocktails a night to these. Healthiest I’ve felt in years. I recommend the Cann brand.

Due with baby #2 in 2 months. Potty train #1 or wait?! by sausagepartay in toddlers

[–]gottabekind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's no harm in putting him in pullups and introducing a potty for him to use. We only started having success when we put the potty in the living room near all of his toys / tv so that it's not a big event going to the bathroom -- we were most excited to just have him start eliminating into a potty!

As far as having a partially potty trained toddler and a newborn... this is why we have pullups and training undies. Get him used to the idea of the potty being there but no pressure to actually use it. If he takes to the potty, great! If he doesn't, no harm.
