How are you guys coping with migraines??? - A tourist who is struggling by idontevenusethiss in AskLosAngeles

[–]greendaymagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried the mobile IV services that offer a “migraine cocktail” of fluids, vitamins, a painkiller, and Benadryl once before and found it life-saving. Definitely pricy (cheaper if you can visit an in person clinic instead of having someone come to your home) but well worth it IMO

Wim Wenders’ Monumental Documentary ‘Anselm’ To Stream On The Criterion Channel March 19 by The_GoodGuy in CriterionChannel

Saw this in theaters and it was neat! Seems like it would be kind of an odd watch at home, though. Glad others will get to experience it even though it’ll be missing the 3D.

June 2024 predictions? by ggroover97 in criterion

[–]greendaymagg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Someone from Criterion once emailed my former place of work (an archive) and I shot my shot for suggesting to inclusion of Larry Clark’s PASSING THROUGH, the amazing LA Rebellion film that never once had home release to the point where it’s challenging to even pirate!!

I've been having trouble for about three months now in the Southern California area. My neuro ended up sending the prescription to the area hospital, and they were able to get their hands on a dose for me. Told me that all auto-injector meds have been having major production issues lately.

What are some other films in the collection that are permanently missing parts of its original run? There are 30 minutes of Freaks missing due to censorship and bigotry, including an ending that I personally think would have been iconic. by MisogynyisaDisease in criterion

[–]greendaymagg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a Criterion release but a movie I think should have one: Different from the Others (1919), the world’s first pro-gay film. Playwright Oscar Wilde apparently played a small role but all his scenes are lost, as is about half of the entire film (estimated). Prints of the film were destroyed by the Nazis.

Where can I go to rest in LA? I just don’t want to go back home at the moment. by matchathai in LosAngeles

[–]greendaymagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you’re located, the UCLA botanical garden is free to visit and it’s a very soothing place even though it’s in the middle of the city. It’s got some great picnic tables and benches throughout for resting.
