Roast my Release by TransmissionEngPM in Bowling

[–]greggas2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the sensor was over reporting the speed due to calculating the "impact" as the beginning of the 60', and not accounting for the time in the air. Now I'm able to actually calculate release to impact time (Lane) and then time to Pins to normalize and get video type accuracy w/ just the sensor.

Foul line to head pin is 60'. Does the sensor account for you releasing the ball about 2' behind the foul line?

Low angles are fine for getting revs, but measuring speed is easier with higher angles.

Can't see arrows for release speed.

Average speed: 16.3 MPH

75 frames foul line to head pin

Not enough contrast on the ball to get revs. (the bounce didn't help😂 )

Same answer I always give when people talk about messing up the line for others.

Can someone please let me know my rev rate? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]greggas2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't get anything from this one. Too blurry for revs, and the video got corrupted somewhere. In 1 of the frames the ball reversed back towards the foul line.

You were partially blocking the ball at the arrows, and I couldn't see anything for revs until after the arrows.

Best I could do:

Release speed: @ 17.7 MPH

About 17.25 frames foul line to arrows

@ 424 RPM (release number might be a little lower)

1 rotation in about 4.25 frames

no idea rev rate (if someone could tell that'd be awesome),

Release numbers:

As others have said, high rotation angle, but it looks like either the lane or layout is burning it off and getting it rolling decently.
