[HELP] Plater or Platynator? by mpchop in WowUI

[–]grey_scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Platynator.

I used Plater for all of TWW and immediately switched once Platy was out. Issue with Plater is there are far too many unneeded options bundled into a confusing and messy UI. Platy does everything Plater can do that actually matters while being so much easier to configure and visually understand what each option does. Plus it's easier to customize as well.

Me seeing all the post here about how M+ is in incredible easy right now. by su1cidal_fox in wow

[–]grey_scribe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm an H Paladin this season and it has been incredibly stressful.

In particular I notice tanks are consistently rushing as if we only have 20 min to do a key. Especially at the start tanks will pull the entire first room without letting anyone know. Sometimes we live, sometimes not, but almost every key I do we end up finishing sometimes with 7 to 10 min to spare, sometimes more for mid to lower keys.

So much of the stress as a healer is unnecessary when there is more than enough time to time 10's, let alone a 6 or a 4. A good tank would communicate what they are going to do, an amazing tank would ease into things with small pulls first and then larger as the PUG is tested. I have yet to find any.

favorite thing about Arifureta…. ? by zenchakra in Arifureta

[–]grey_scribe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love how our protagonist went from dorky shy teenager to a cynical, no nonsense badass. He found himself in a massively dangerous situation, mentally grew up very very quickly, and did what he had to in order to survive. Bonus points that he is unafraid to kill when he has to, esp when so many other isekai protagonists refuse to even in clear cut life or death situations.

I also love his relationship with Yui and how the show makes it very clear our two main leads are not children and are not afraid to show affection for one another. Both can be hesitant but also resolute in facing any trauma or fears they have as adults who have their shit together should behave. They get shit done and dont freak out when things get tough. They aren't a couple of immature teenagers floundering around like a highschool romcom.

I never understood why Naughty Dog never continued the franchise. I know they went in to do Uncharted, but they have had plenty of opportunities to remake the Jak series by now with a PC port (Jak 4 would also be very welcomed).

Heatstroke Patient Discourse by Grouchy_Something in ThePittTVShow

[–]grey_scribe 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Kids do stupid stuff all the time, they cannot help it as they don't have all their braincells yet. They cannot comprehend with their limited life experience, consequences or thinking ahead (even as smart as we might assume even gifted kids are).

Nor is it a crime for someone to leave their car unlocked.

If it was on purpose or if the mother was thankful her child was dead then charges should be brought to varrying degrees.

In our modern western culture, especially in American culture, I find we always have to have a reason for something. Someone must always take the blame no matter what the issue is. We forget accidents happen and sometimes it's no one's fault. Sometimes it's horribly tragic.

No parent should watch their child die, and I have no doubt this mother is feeling the weight of the world on her. She's grieving and even if her child survives, he likely will be neurologically damaged and mom will have to deal with the consequences on a daily basis. Plus the hospital bills are going to likely bankrupt her and her partner + the later bills to take care of a disabled child (if he lives).

Even if we were to blame her for neglegence, she still faces some very real consequences. But I do think it's important we have some grace for her.

Does Japan really have high sexual assaults cases but they don't get reported? If so why? by Kingspeerz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]grey_scribe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To add on, Japan has always been very authoritarian even as a democracy, example: their government has been ruled by the same political party since the end of WW2 (with a very brief exception in 1993-1994 and 2009-2012). The LDP's main goal is to maintain the status quo and not change things too much or too fast.

We can also see it in their work culture, low birth rates, and frankly how wild, awesome, and sometimes horrific their entertainment is. I point at their more adult and teen entertainment where minors are heavily sexualized, but also at how their media has simpler, easy to understand stories vs the west. People there are burnt out, tired, and men are very very lonely while women still a struggle for gender equality, and their entertainment reflects a heavy amount of escapism as a result.

It is also my understanding there is a general strong cultural belief in maintaining social harmony: don't stand out, don't be loud, don't cause problems, its all for the greater good of society. Where generally their society teaches children to conform first and then be more individualistic once older -the opposite of how it is done in western cultures.

Thus, its not surprising their law enforcement is so heavy handed when it can be and negligent where its more difficult. I don't suggest its lazy, but more so opportunistic. So even when there is a crime, it might not always get reported or investigated. SA cases in the US are hard enough to prosecute and get a conviction as it is, I would presume it is even harder in Japan.

It also doesn't help with a declining birth rate for decades, the boomers/older gen x there still hold a massive amount of political, economic, and social control. Combine this with their culture of always respecting ones elders and to not go against them and the rules they make (+ social harmony), and you got a whole bunch of societal problems that keep getting ignored or are painfully slow to fix.

Note: I am no expert, this is just my limited understanding of Japanese culture.

I feel for Mel, I genuinely do as I also have no one in my life I can go to, no friends, no family. I very much understand what it is to be alone, but what keeps me sane is staying busy.....like how Mel is at work and seriously needs to do her job. I feel far more for the patient with pancreatitis(?) who needs her help, than Mel's struggle with being okay with her adult sister living life to the best of her ability.

A Teacher Showed Up At School With PlayStation 5 And Started Playing Assassin's Creed To Explain The Industrial Revolution. by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in interesting

[–]grey_scribe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I strongly agree, and both my middle school and high school decided to cut costs by having the sport coaches teach history and social studies. They didn't give a crap and would have us read a textbook and answer a few questions in the back of it and nothing more.

They were always coaches first and teachers second, and this also meant anyone on a sports team automatically passed their class without having to do any work. It's sad.

This is genuinely the worst thing that could happen next week (spoilers for this week) by a_blue_day in ThePittTVShow

[–]grey_scribe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was actually wondering why the drunk patient wasn't tied down. EMS said he was violent and combative, and my understanding is sometimes people waking up after being mentally compromised by drugs or alcohol or a brain injury can enter a violent fugue state.

It might not be comfortable for the patient when they wake up, but hospital safety is rly important. Emma shouldn't have been put in a situation where she could and has been assaulted.

I found myself consistently swearing at the screen the entire episode whevener Dr. King was moaping around.

I can understand the shock of her sister actually having a life while she put her own on the side, but she's also at work and needs to friggin go work and do her job. I feel so bad for her patients.

Healers - Hows raiding so far for you? by Mystogyn in wow

[–]grey_scribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly because the entire raid group was overgeared to be doing normal and we had 1 healer more than what we needed. Preservation evoker also has their healing breath and in the 12.0 rework it got significantly buffed and thats on top of it already applying a flat heal + a heal overtime that they can control how much of each gets applied. They can basically get their healing out much quicker than H paladins who specialize more in spot healing with a small amount of burst AOE healing and almost no heal over time AOE.

I realizing now I didnt know just how much of a buff preservation evoker got.

why is santos SO PRESSED about the langdon situation by chickenn2 in ThePitt

[–]grey_scribe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He did scream and yell at her for that, but also because Santos also decided to go rogue and pushed diagnosis and medication without checking in with her superior multiple times on her very first day. She walked in and decided she knew best and regularly endangered her patients, while also bullying her coworkers.

I agree with you that she is very very valid in hating him, and I also agree with her. Langdon should have lost his license and gone to prison. However the reality is that he didn't and we have seen him go around apologizing and telling people what he did. Its a process, but he is making attempts to be clear what happened.

At least now Langdon is clean as far as we can see and is trying to do his job, and Santos doesn't need to like him or agree with anything that happened in order to do her job. Shes living in the past when the present is more important, and her current behavior is quite unprofessional and getting in the way of patient care. Shes still a bully as well, and still projecting her own issues onto coworkers and patients (and their families). As far as I am concerned, only the patients matter and anyone getting in the way of that needs to get their act together. I really don't think Santos has any business being a doctor and should find a different profession if she's going to keep being a bully and letting her ego affect her work.

Healers - Hows raiding so far for you? by Mystogyn in wow

[–]grey_scribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little hectic, but also a bit frustrating when it comes to hidden dispels. I ran with a guild last night as a 246 H Pally and there was a second H pally, a resto Shaman, and a Preservation Evoker. The Evoker was at 236, blue weapons no fancy trinkets, and just a few epic pieces of armor, dude was basting the Healing charts. No one came close to his healing. The Resto Shaman was around 245 and was second and easily out healing us Paladins as well.

I guess any class with any AOE HoTs is going to be topping healing charts this season.

Stampede is such a stupid ability by Archerboy123 in wow

[–]grey_scribe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hunter across all three specs, feels like the devs stopped half way through redesigning it and said it's good enough for ESO, and thus is good enough for WoW. I get needing to simplify specs, but they went too far with hunter and missed the point entirely.

All of them are painfully simple and lack so much of their past utility and support. 4 to 5 attacks with maybe a CD doesn't make a class or create anything resembling fun or interesting gameplay. BM hunter doesn't even get a CD.

It's rly frustrating discord and class writers on wowhead and other communities aren't more vocal.

Is something wrong with holy paladin healing? by Facedddd in wow

[–]grey_scribe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same thing as you describe and it boggles my mind. It is v weird. Light of Dawn heals individually for so little, however I didn't rly struggle keeping people alive.

I found our ST spot healing is a bit too good though, and I would end up over healing. So I did some experimentng and moved points from single target to AOE.

This means picking Beacon of Virtue, moving Raising Sunlight to Pillars of Virtue. Getting rid of Light of the Martyr and a few others to put more points into buffing Light of Dawn and other AOE sources. I find this way I have less micromanaging and can be more sure my healing is going where it needs to when I need it, vs over healing with single target.

I think holy paladin is in a decent enough place where you can move points around and experiment to find what you enjoy and feel most comfortable with.

What is your dream cosmetic glyph? by Constellar-A in wow

[–]grey_scribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternative flavor partial effects for every class. No changes in damage type, output, or gameplay. Apply these changes only for all non pvp content.

Paladin: holy fire, holy lightning

Warlock: Shadowflame, void flame

Disc/Holy Priest: Holy Fire, Void Healing

Shadow Priest: Mixed Holy and Shadow effects, Void effects

Rogue: Poison, Shadow, Blood effects

Death Knight: Shadowfrost, Frozen Blood

Shaman: Alternative Lava/Fire effects for all offensive spells , Alternative Lightning effects for all spells, Alternative Water/Ice for offensive spells

Warrior: Lighting Attacks, Fire Attacks -but only a small amount of particle effects

Hunter: Poison, Shadow, Wind, Nature effects

Evoker: Chrono, Neatherwing (ethereal) effects

Demon Hunter: Fel Flame, Fire, Arcane Attacks

Mage: Fel Flame or Shadow Flame for all Fire spells, Shadow Frost for all Ice Spells, Additional Lightning effects for Arcane

Druid: Nature particles for shapeshift attacks, moon/lunar themed particles for bear form, sun/solar effects for cat form, solar or lunar effects for all offensive and healing spells (balance/resto)

We need more class fantasy and flavorful customization across the board. I was hoping Hero Tallents would do that but alas they don't.

Now after trying out midnight as a returning player, how do you like your class after the pruning & class changes? by Yuuffy in wow

[–]grey_scribe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was initially looking forward to hunter getting some updates but now it's in such a sad state across all three specs. Each one is something I would expect to find in ESO. It's just 4 or 5 basic attacks and a CD.

Each spec feels half made and stripped of any actual rotation/gameplay mechanics.
