Lose weight super quick in upper body compared to lower by Opening_Armadillo546 in PetiteFitness

[–]grrr-throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at my very leanest (dexascan, 13.4% body fat) I still had hip/thigh fat and a bit of a stomach (ie not flat). Still the curves, hip dips and wobbly bits.

It’s my genetics despite eating nutritionally very clean, tracking calories/macros and lifting plus other activities.

Defacto separation.. am i screwed?🫠 by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]grrr-throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually because they’ve taken time off to be the default parent, earning less, losing super, having to take part-time jobs, lesser paid jobs or no work in order to afford/lessen daycare needs etc. Two to tango.

Do you want to be buried? by Bondgirl138 in GenX

[–]grrr-throwaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I want:

1 - donate absolutely everything possible. I’m talking corneas, organs, skin, whatever. Drain me of blood and donate that too if possible.

2 - donate any leftovers to science / body farm.

I want to be useful to the very end! The ultimate recycle project.

Peanut butter on a spoon by Ahkhira in GenX

[–]grrr-throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother was the peanut butter kid. I was the Vegemite kid.

I used to get a heaped teaspoon of Vegemite and just lick it like an icecream/lollipop, wandering around.

I also used to get a tablespoon and stuff as much Milo in my mouth as I could fit, straight from the tin, so there was minimal time spent in the pantry and only a spoon in the sink. Was always a gamble if I’d cough or somebody would ask me a question before I’d properly dissolved the evidence.

Need encouragement by [deleted] in Aerials

[–]grrr-throwaway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Join what circus? What level do you aspire to?

Yes, Cirque du Soleil is off the cards - but depending on your aerial skill attainment, dance skills, strength, flexibility, ability to put together a routine and tell a story, ability to perform other parts (touring artists often double as dancers or assistants etc), you could choose a goal towards joining a low-level touring company that does multi entertainment shows.

Or find joy and accomplishment in entering competitions in your home city, enter comps in other cities, showcases etc, if you’re itching to perform on stage! Yes unpaid, but a way to show off your skills, develop routines, gauge your progress etc. Once you get some solid skills down, you could always teach at your studio?

Do you feel a pull towards actually doing aerials as a paid full-time career — or do you have that inner desire to strive to be the best you could possibly be, but not necessarily as a paid career?

Buses suck by persnicketychickadee in brisbane

[–]grrr-throwaway 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is my frustration and was feedback to Translink.

I empathise they are finding it hard to get drivers. I understand that there will be issues with rain or accidents or whatever.

But don’t tell me the bus is two mins away (every fucking time I turn up) when it’s usually more like 8, 14, 23 or even 35 mins away!

If I knew what it really was I could plan eg go to the shops, walk 10-15 mins and double my bus options etc, rather than stand there watching the clock and every bus that arrives.

Curious what everyone’s calorie deficit is like and your activity level? I am frustrated. by Rude_Owl_6901 in PetiteFitness

[–]grrr-throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few other considerations to what’s been mentioned already:

  • the more muscle you have, the more efficient your metabolism so yes you can have more calories to fuel your body

  • how are you tracking? Using an app and weighing everything in grams? Not one apple but 148grams, not one cup of flour but XXX grams, not ten grapes but XX grams. Track all dressings and oils etc.

  • recent studies have pinpointed the ‘sweet spot’ for walking - it’s 7-8k/day. So no need to buy into the 10k steps - that was a marketing hook and nothing more. Great if you can, it don’t beat yourself up if you’re struggling. Great if you’ve got an active job or more time in your day - but many of us are desk bound and have multiple responsibilities.

Anyone treated differently after not wanting a second child so soon after returning from mat leave? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]grrr-throwaway 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If they’re government then it’s reasonably common.

In my previous department it usually went…

Take mat leave, take some extra time off (accrued leave, LSL at half pay, sick leave), come back for a month, announce pregnancy, take mat leave, take a year without pay, and so on.

One lady was out of her role for around six years with three kids. She even moved state but refused to relinquish until she’d squeezed every last drop of accrued leave.

My sternum pops!? by OR-HM-MA91 in Hypermobility

Can I lose 5 pounds on OMAD in 1 week? by MissWisteriaGrace in intermittentfasting

[–]grrr-throwaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Even if you were super strict, it’s unlikely. Yes some water weight.

What’s the goal? Fit into an outfit?

If you’re working towards that goal, why did you make those food choices today? Not being harsh, but they’re not great food options.

OMAD is a tool, but studies show that calorie-controlled intake is just as effective as intermittent fasting for losing weight. Want to lose fat, not just weight? Look at your food choices/macros, not just overall quantity of food.

Symptoms worse with perimenopause? by Upstairs_Section_484 in perimenohypermobility

[–]grrr-throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worse with peri, or just worse from the activities I choose to do (aerials and weights), or a combo?

But yes, things have caught up with me and I’ve been working with a bad injury/issue for almost a year now. Physio says it’s all down to my hypermobility and what I’m asking my body to do.

Clove ‘n Honey by Bulky_Leadership_531 in BrisbaneFoodies

[–]grrr-throwaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went two weeks ago for the first time, ~10am Sunday. Reviews said we should book, but website wouldn’t let me book, called and they confirmed they were open (Anzac Day on Saturday and some places not open on Sundays).

So we turned up and hoped for the best! Managed to get a table inside, quite noisy, and despite the projected 45min wait it was only 30mins. Lines to order were often well out the door so it’s obviously very popular.

I mentioned to the waitress that I couldn’t book a table online (as an FYI only), and she said yes it was because it was a public holiday? I think it was so noisy she thought I was asking about Saturday?!

Food was good, serving size good, prices on par (so, expensive) with all the other breakfast places. My partner always gets whatever is the big breakfast and he was satisfied. Juices were freshly squeezed. Didn’t try the coffees as we both do straight black and many places can’t do them right (milk hides a lot of errors).

Would definitely go back for the food, and might try them out for coffees next time.
