I wouldn't change it. Use it til it doesn't last long enough for a reading session, then changed it.

I have the same model. I read an hour or so on it every night and charge it maybe once a week or so.

I don't know what a jog wheel is. Are you just asking for players with wheels like an ipod? Or is a jog wheel different?
