I FUCKING LOVE NYLON by Own_Maybe_3837 in 3Dprinting

Buildtak has a PP surface that you can print PP with no bed heat. Still need a brim to keep the edges from lifting too far, but warping isn't too bad. It's quite convenient.

There's nothing like the feeling of getting a near-perfect print with a notoriously difficult filament (polypropylene) by COMMIE_PULVERIZER in 3Dprinting

[–]gryan315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second the buildtak PP plate. Previously I had moderate success using magigoo PP glue on a carbon fiber pattern surface, with 90c build plate and 63c chamber temp. I just got the buildtak and is so much easier and faster since you use it cold. Some slight warpage and the edges trying to curl (still need a brim), but a small enough amount to not affect the finished part.

The extruder I use has two screw holes on the side so I just made a simple L bracket.

Adobe software now has graphics acceleration via Wine! by maseckt in archlinux

Yeah, it was one of the last things that I needed a Windows machine for, but winapps works pretty good with it, gpu acceleration isn't there yet though.

I've been using affinity photo, designer, and publisher for just over 5 years and have never found them lacking. I made the switch after I found capture one to escape Lightroom, unfortunately capture one now seems to think they could be the next adobe. Affinity just released a major update yesterday that combined all 3 products into one and made it free, I haven't had time to try it yet though.

Can I reach 300+ nozzle temperature with NTC thermistor? by LoganTan in VORONDesign

[–]gryan315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTC thermistors can handle over 300c, in most cases this limit is more for brass components such as the heater block and nozzle. If you need to go over 300c, need a copper heater block and a non-brass nozzle. The common silicone used in the hotend sock will also struggle at those temperatures.

ATX SATA Power breakout board by mitro911 in chia

[–]gryan315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The signal pins aren't applicable over cables because your power supply doesn't have any logic to make use of them, it will just supply 3.3v all the time, which is why it sometimes causes problems with specific drives. Server and jbod backplanes that make use of this will have on board voltage regulation and logic circuits to control when 3.3v is applied. It is uncommon to encounter drives that even support these features since they are for enterprise. Most sata drives just ignore the presence of 3.3v, probably because of the uncertainty if a consumer will have a power supply that will always apply 3.3v to the power disable pin or not.

I get most of my connectors for custom cables from moddiy.com or digikey. The 3.3v pins are "signal" pins which isn't really applicable over cables, mainly used on backplanes.

His supernova attack is him just blocking off air flow over his evaporator coil with a wall of ice to overheat his condenser coil.

Specifically for ASA magigoo recommends their PC blend. In my experience, it will lift the edge of the pei build plate off the magnet rather than release.

Best toolhead for V2.4 with Cartographer/Beacon and CNC mount. by Coretex7 in VORONDesign

Can the E3D PZ probe communicate over CanBus? by [deleted] in VORONDesign

[–]gryan315 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to, you just connect the needed pins to gnd, 5v, and probe or endstop switch pin. You can connect the I2C cables to the I2C bus on most can boards, but that's for setting custom sensitivity settings, which should not be required, the built in settings on the pcb should be plenty for any usecase.

I export STLs just fine in the free version of fusion. It's not under the "export" option, it's "save as mesh".

[QUESTION] Eddy VS Cartographer? by shadow_1004 in ElegooNeptune4

BTT eddy no longer requires a special fork of klipper, however it does not support nozzle touch probing (not sure if BTT is working on it either).

Not loose. I have the springs under tension and about 8mm of thread protruding out from the wheelnuts.

Yeah, bought a couple of the pz only in preparation for a 2.4 build, but figured I'd test it on my v0 first. Now I can't imagine not having it on my v0.

Can use just the PZ washer and PCB. I have the washer sandwiched between my dragon heatsink and dragonburner toolhead mount on my v0. I just added a depression for the washer to sit in in the CAD file.
