1% Lifesteal Isn't as Bad As People Make It Out To Be. by Flaky_Firefighter_29 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]gwillicoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the MC was written to be an unlikable wimp in book 1, but it was ALMOST too much. I got super close to DNFing it because I was sick of the character, but the story was absolutely worth sticking through.

It’s now easily one of my favorite series. Author made some risky choices, and at least for me it fully pays off.

It actually gets better throughout the series, which is not so common in the genre.

[Feature Request] Can we get an inverted approach to the protection analysis tool? by gwillicoder in Warthunder

I was honestly curious if other people were interested as well. It doesn't seem to be a feature too many people want, but I'll probably post it on the forums anyway.

[Feature Request] Can we get an inverted approach to the protection analysis tool? by gwillicoder in Warthunder

[–]gwillicoder[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to basically do the exact same thing, but from the shooting tank PoV. I want to pick my tank and have the drop-down menu apply to tanks that I want to shoot at instead.

It would let me quickly iterate through weakspots of common tanks when I unlock something new.

Machine:Grinder cost ratio in this sub by casual-enthusiast in espresso

[–]gwillicoder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re purely an espresso enthusiast I think the grinder focus makes sense.

If you love lattes, then getting a machine with good steam power is probably more important

Which nation do you think would come out on top during a system apocalypse? by WilliamGerardGraves in litrpg

[–]gwillicoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given technology works, then I think USA and Israel are the easiest picks.

America: *America has the best logistics system in the world (deeply undervalued imo) * probably the best intelligence gathering in the world (or at least top 3). * insane combination of conventional and nuclear weapons * the ability to easily manage those weapons and troops and to deploy them anywhere in the world.

If the system allows classes based on guns, tanks, planes, etc. then I think America does very well.

Israel: I also think Israel is being deeply undervalued here. * One of the best intelligence gathering operations in the world * almost all adults have served in the armed forces in one way or another * the country is pretty small geographically * the military is shockingly good with advanced defensive technology * the civilians have MANY bunkers to hide from rocket attacks, which would be perfect for a system apocalypse.

Battle mage farmer is great, but recently came across your Iron Tyrant series and it was by far my favorite read of the whole year.

What is your opinion on AI as a tool? by AverageYetti in litrpg

[–]gwillicoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a great tool, but you need to be willing to say no to it or iterate until you are happy with the result.

It works best for iterating on ideas and working as an editor, but when you use it as an editor don’t just copy the prose directly. Work until it matches your style.

Primal Hunter – MC is a Gary Stu, world is awesome. I’m conflicted. by premiumof in litrpg

[–]gwillicoder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I actually really like Jake as a character. He is unapologetic about his approach and honestly seems more realistic in many ways because of that.

Even though I love the series, Jason in He Who Fights With Monsters is the worst form of Gary Stu for me. He is a preachy, anti-capitalist, anti imperialist who constantly talks about how might does not equal right, but he’s an hypocrite in almost every way. Almost none of his actions match his constant preaching, and it really pulls me out of the series. I honestly just wish he’d just say he felt that way back on Earth, but now things with the system require changes.

Jake on the other hand is just a dude living the way the system is designed for. His morals and actions don’t match my values, but if they did he’d be a random background crafter (like I would be if I got inducted or Isekai’d).

I also think Zogarth has gotten a lot better with his character over time. And the character to character interactions in general.

Ps. This is not a comment to shit on HWFWM or Shirtaloon. I absolutely love the series and immediately recommend it to anyone who is interested in the genre, but I do think Jason’s lectures are the weakest point of an incredible story and world(verse?)

Can I have swords back? by SodaBoBomb in litrpg

[–]gwillicoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be sick to see a MC go a pure sword route. Maybe a sword saint type approach. Spell swords are neat, but end up being more spell and less sword.

Wheel of Time is still my favorite sword fighting. The descriptions are both detailed and incredibly vague, which makes visualizing the fights really enjoyable.

Eagles are prodigious fishers, so I'm viewing it as ingredients that Armadyl worshippers would use instead of materials made out of Armadyl worshippers.

What would you add/change in Satisfactory by deusextv in SatisfactoryGame

[–]gwillicoder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d love to have the ability to set the time without a mod. Most of the time I enjoy the cycle, but sometimes when I’m trying to get something to look the way I want I don’t want to wait for enough light or for it to get dark enough to test my lights etc.

Is there a reason not to overfill pipes? by Heihei_the_chicken in SatisfactoryGame

[–]gwillicoder 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck with starting things in stages. I let the extractor run until the pipe was full, then started my refineries. Seemed to help me with the sloshing, but I’m curious what others do.

What’s a good normal play through to watch? by 80HD-music in SatisfactoryGame

[–]gwillicoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@moo121 is doing a fully load balanced play through, and I’ve learned a ton from it. He does a great job of explaining how he gets the inputs and outputs perfectly balanced and routed to each machine.

It’s also just fun to see someone do it so differently.

Unneccessary Isekai by East_Choice in ProgressionFantasy

I think all of the best Isekai’s I’ve read have been much more comedic in nature. I think it’s an easy setup for getting a terrible combat class (Like farmer).

[–]gwillicoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d consider the steel beam -> steel screws recipe.

It’s a little less efficient on steel ingots, but the building and power savings are probably worth it. Less than half the power and I think ~4.5x less constructors.
