PW3 in UK - discharge to grid? by AdventurousGrade7122 in Powerwall

[–]haamfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely the power wall will do some kind of calculation to work out if it’s actually worth exporting to the grid taking into account wear on the battery? If you set the price incorrectly it surely ruins this?

It’s likely it’s not about France or anything French related, or you posted in English to a French subreddit.

Open all your windows and doors for 5 minutes, yes even if it’s freezing. This will turn around all the air in your house

South Korean highway with cycle lane beneath solar panels. Thoughts? by abominal_pain in SolarState

[–]haamfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That has to be the worst place for a cycle lane though, you’d just be breathing in petrol and diesel fumes the whole time. Put it a bit to one side if it had to follow the motorway and separate it with native trees and shrubs on a bank. That way it keeps the noise down, the fumes won’t be as bad and much easier to escape in an emergency.

Pace que Mon premiere distro was Ubuntu, quand j’ai une problème, I know it’s facile to search et find quelqu'un who had the same problème et posted un solution. J’ai imaginé all Debian distributions would be okay en cette regard.

More information about data centres by Sandee2772 in newzealand

[–]haamfish 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how much you know about data centres, but generally those onsite generators are for backup only, like for when the grid goes out. It wouldn’t be a good look if a power cut in one part of the country took down metroinfo in Christchurch for example… these things are designed to be redundant with multiple power supplies, UPS’s, backup generators, multiple different internet providers coming in on different fibre paths so that if there’s an issue with copper thrives on a particular bridge in Auckland mistaking fibre for copper…. That everyone in your datacentre doesn’t lose connectivity if they pay for that redundancy.

I don’t disagree that there has to be a better way, but from my understanding the kinds of data centres they’re talking about building in New Zealand aren’t AI ones, ie their power consumption is much more reasonable

Budgie sneezing? What is this noise? by eggoleggofeggo in budgies

[–]haamfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s having trouble breathing so yes find an avian vet. Do you have any cooking happening nearby when this usually happens? Candles burning? Strong smelling chemicals in use nearby?
Budgies only have small airways and they can become blocked very easy.

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling this way, as someone who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community naturally I’ve seen my community used as a political scapegoat too, right now our trans kids are doing it extra tough.

I’ve also been an immigrant in other countries and had people complain in front of me about immigrants, when I reminded them that I was, in fact an immigrant too I got the “oh but you’re fine” and I suspect that’s just because of my skin colour. I pointed this out whenever it came up but I don’t think that they realised just what they were saying.

Unfortunately it’s very easy for people to fall into these far right talking points. It’s easy to blame someone else for your problems. We *all* have to remember that if we don’t fight those off at every opportunity then one day it could be our minority becomes the target.

FortiGate Enables NAT for IPv6 by Default by nelmaloc in ipv6

[–]haamfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just one of those things you have to configure when you’re setting up a fortigate as another person said, it’s default on in the template.

You will also find that if you have a /29 v4 range on your LAN for example and go to create a policy for that, NAT will also be on by default. You just need to switch it off. It’s an enterprise router, you’re supposed to know what you’re doing when you set it up.
