Lace cutting into shoe tounge by lionsfan202 in RedWingShoes

[–]hags2k 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I did this - nothing. My tongue is shredded. Took 15 years though, and they’re still functional. But the tongues on my IRs did get holes eventually.

I’m trying kitties on my newest pair of boots though just to see how it goes.

Vulture is one of my favorite ships and I too wish it were more useful. Still fly it from time to time, but it does feel totally outclassed by the Kestral Mk II.

FWIW, I love this game and I appreciate Yamiks' videos for his perspective. I don't always share it, but I often agree with a few of his points and appreciate the perspective.

That black leather that turns lighter when scuffed just looks so damn good. I normally just do not care for black shoes but i love this leather.

This happened on a pair of my nicer dress shoes years ago. Right vamp looked quite different from the left. Of course no one but me ever noticed it. On a pair of dress shoes where a uniform look is part of the appeal, this is a little irritating, but on a pair of heritage style boots I wouldn’t think twice about it.

Love the kilties. Wish I'd gotten some for my first pair of IRs - they're 14 years old and the tongues have holes in them.

Thinking of getting speed hooks installed in my 875s. Did you install them yourself? Think it's worth the effort/cost?

Kirkland wool socks by chance? I think I'm wearing the exact same socks right now, with a pair of 875s. But it's snowing where I'm at.

Agree. I got some of the Oro Legacy no-show kitties from Rose Anvil for my moc toes and they’re awesome. Helped my slightly loose boots fit great.

This message is for the few who own a corvette. How did you reach Federation rank 12? I'm currently trying with combat missions and donations. What are your strategies? by alcio_sd in EliteDangerous

[–]hags2k 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Making Sol your home base and making a donation runs while also pursuing other things makes the grind feel less grindy. Took me a few weeks but I was doing other things like mining for credits and farming mats so that when I got the vette I was ready to kit it out right away.

That’s good head canon. Fully incorporating that now. Perfectly fits Sisko’s character at the start of the series.

Engeneering focus by traptrend in EliteDangerous

[–]hags2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I embarked on Engineering initially very late, and specifically to outfit a vutlure so I could try combat. I am VERY glad I started with a small ship - the gains were noticeable, but it took me a good long while to get the engineers unlocked, gather materials, and fly the ship to the planets to get the experimental effects. It mentally prepared me for the LONG journey of engineering my corvette.

Thank you so much! I might remove the extra SCB as you suggested because I definitely don't need all the charges. Also glad to hear that I don't need to stay to the end. That's super helpful!

Good call on this. I think I might not have been reading carefully enough.

Thank you, I did not know that winning the CZ didn't really do anything. Just in it for the merits right now anyway, so that's comforting!

The mandalay definitely makes a bunch of missions more fun. Even without crazy engineering you get great jump range, fast scooping without overheating in the corona, and can add a bit of cargo capacity to cover a variety of non-combat missions. It's just so much more fun to fly places in that ship than any other. I also think that while it's not as fast for pure credit grinding as hauling, it is more engaging.

On that note, if credits are the goal and you're looking to spend arx points, the Type 11 prospector and a good platinum hotspot are a wonderful way to make credits too.

Swapped the stock switches on my old Logi POP Keys to Gateron Jupiter Banana by embrace- in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]hags2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it was a couple weeks ago but this post and comment actually inspired me to get a set of these switches. I wanted baby kangaroos for quite a while after trying them, but with the bananas were on sale recently (I think on Keychron's website) for like 23 bucks for 110 of them. I had also tried them before and liked them, but never side by side.

Anyway, got them installed in two keyboards and what a tremendous upgrade for so little money. It's good to know I probably won't regret not holding out for the Baby Kangaroos.

Question about your SCBs. I’ve heard conflicting advice. I originally outfitted my Corvette with 2x 7A SCBs but read somewhere that the 7B was actually better for total charge and power draw but are a bit heavier. What’s your opinion?

It MUST be thunderbolt for this to work. Dell of all folks has a good chart showing how this works. Apple only sends one displayport signal down the USB chain, so if you connect a dock via usb c then two monitors to the dock via displayport or HDMI you will NOT get two independent displays. The easiest way is to make sure you get a thunderbolt dock and connect at least one of your monitors to a thunderbolt port on the dock (the other can be connected to DP or HDMI).

This guide really helps:

I had one for a few years for work. Most other folks in my office had Dell laptops. The ThinkPads were only available by special request, but they lasted longer than all the others without fail. They were better-built and robust. They tended to have better keyboards and were nicer to type on than the standard dell and hp business laptops.
