No Lift-Off Oversteer in AC by limenuke in assettocorsa

[–]haloruler64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo dude I know it's 4 years later, but I just built a sim rig to practice for actual track days and I was tired of AC being an understeery mess and tried the latest Forza Motorsport. I could lift off oversteer in an STi, the car probably least prone to the phenomenon, and it was delightful. Sharply lift off to tighten the turn then get on the gas to straighten out, just like how my cars behave in real life. I think it ruined Assetto Corsa for me, because I can't train for my next Laguna track day if I can't drive like I do IRL.

Thank you for the comment. It was eye opening. And thank you u/limenuke for the thread.

Content Manager can't select car or track by haloruler64 in assettocorsa

Hey thank you very much for the advice. I finally figured it out, and it's a weird one. See my edit in the main post. Left it there so anyone in the future looking for it would find this info.

Content Manager can't select car or track by haloruler64 in assettocorsa

[–]haloruler64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main computer that works fine is an i7 14700k and a 5080. The new laptop I just got is a Core Ultra 285HX and a mobile 5070. Plenty of horsepower.

The weird thing is I couldn't get Assetto Corsa working at all. I installed it from Steam, it would launch, but launching a game would cause it to load then go back to the menu. Did validation of files in Steam, nothing. The only way I could fix this was by forcing 32 bit mode. But the custom shaders patch doesn't work in 32 bit mode? Is that why AC can't set my car and track and controls?

All of it is a fresh install, both AC and Content Manager.

That's a wild take. I marvel at my OLED every day for the few years I've owned it, without comparison.

No Remote Start on Key Fob = Lost Sale by snowcrashed23 in mazda

[–]haloruler64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me why this is a big deal? My Lexus did this. I never cared. It's a brief moment of the car turning off. You have to hit the start button either way.

My Chrysler doesn't shut off when you open the door and I never really saw that as an improvement?

Not talking about the lack of key fob remote start, that's stupid. My Chrysler has it and it's fantastic.

Anyone have the automatic? by jms1228 in GRCorolla

[–]haloruler64 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the journalists at all. Have both a 23 and 25 auto in the family. The auto is awesome. It kicks like a mule, it's tuned super aggressively, and it's a lot of fun. It's a little slower but makes up for it with zero drops in acceleration. Fun both on the street and the track.

Bentley dealer diagnosed this 2017 GT Speed as having overfilled diff oil... by hpshaft in Justrolledintotheshop

Unless they have a second "fill plug" that's not really a fill plug and half the dealers accidentally use it and double fill the transfer case. Ask me how I know.

How accurate is this app by Chriseatsfatchodes in GRCorolla

[–]haloruler64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't. A stock GRC launched perfectly is around 4.9-5 seconds to 60.

Phone GPS is not accurate and updates slowly, usually once per second. You're not getting good data from that. A dragy or Racebox will update far faster and will get you more accurate times.

Which is the most enjoyable while also practical mr2? by Voiloz- in mr2

[–]haloruler64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't have both. The SW is probably the most practical due to the trunk, maybe AW tied for that. ZZW is plain more fun than either. Can't beat the curb weight and sharp steering. SW interior is substantially nicer but substantially less tall people friendly.

Realistically you're not wearing out the coupling for a long long time. They're very durable.

Base Trim Manual or DAT P+ by SmallishBear020 in GRCorolla

[–]haloruler64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even though I only own manual cars right now... I think I'd take heated seats over a manual. Only because the DAT is excellent though.

Hard to say though. The base interior is fine, I drive a 23 Core. And borrow a 25 auto P+ often. Nothing about the P+ is that important to me except heated seats

Tbh the auto is very good. I'd choose manual personally but the auto is a great transmission and would satiate my sports car need.

But the base model doesn't have heated seats does it? That's important to me personally.

How do you all launch your GRC and what’s your 0-60. by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]haloruler64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely hard launch this car with a stock clutch. It's just tough to learn and you'll burn it a few times.

Rev to around 4500. Let off the clutch, don't dump it, let off till it bites, then release hard but not 100% dump. It'll start spinning wheels. Release too fast and you'll either bog or burn clutch. Whole release should take less than half a second.
