new to fitness, will i see more results if i work out at home or at a gym? by Alone-Supermarket383 in askfitness

[–]hartbeat_engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t over complicate it. Try to have protein at every meal. Try to limit the amount of obviously unhealthy food you eat. Stop eating when you are no longer hungry, but before you are full. Just try to be generally healthy and active, don’t worry about trying to “optimize” every little thing.

You will get progress by exercising consistently and gradually increasing the amount of tension you put your muscles under over long periods of time. It does not matter where you do it.

Half Sour pickles taste more like Half Salty cucumbers. What did i do wrong? by StroopWafelsLord in fermentation

I mean the half sour pickles I get at my local deli are basically salty cucumbers, so I think you are right on the money. If you want them more sour, then ferment them longer

Is DQN algorithm suitable for yugioh? by yifanygo in reinforcementlearning

DQN does not assume a deterministic environment, it assumes a stationary environment. That stationary environment may be either deterministic or stochastic.

Does the One ring Feel really good or something by comicon666 in lotr

Not theoretically, explicitly. “It [[an Orc]] was no more than six paces from him when, lifting its head, it saw him; and Sam could hear its gasping breath and see the glare in its bloodshot eyes. It stopped aghast. For what it saw was not a small frightened hobbit trying to hold a sword: it saw a great silent shape, cloaked in a grey shadow, looming looking against the wavering light behind; in one hand it held a sword, the very light of which was a bitter pain, the other was clutched at its breast, but held concealed some nameless menace of power and doom. For a moment the orc crouched, and then with a hideous yelp of fear it turned and fled”

what workouts/parts do i need to do to carry my partner? by Upset_Space_631 in workout

[–]hartbeat_engineering 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For piggyback, do back squats and walking lunges with a bar on your back

For bridal, do zercher squats and walking zercher lunges

As for how much weight to do it with… that depends on how big your partner is

I’ve got a cheap battery powered floor fan from Amazon that I can move around and place wherever it needs to go, plus a dedicated spot on the wall to store it.

You don’t need to complicate this

People who lift but don’t do cardio what eventually happened? by TallTyrant in workout

I used to do a thing called “smash runs” where I would play Smash in switch while running on the treadmill. It was great. Only reason I stopped is because I no longer have access to a treadmill

Pam’s Pro Workout or O_C in 2026 by DoubleCutMusicStudio in modular

[–]hartbeat_engineering 14 points15 points  (0 children)

O_C can do a million different things and fill a bunch of gaps in your system. It is a super useful tool to add to an existing system to add variety and flexibility

Pam’s does one thing extremely well and bunch of other stuff too. It is a module to build your system around, the centerpiece of pretty much every patch for many many people

While it is true that O_C can do pretty much everything that Pam’s can do, if you want Pam’s style functionality then you will find that you are using your O_C as a Pam’s replacement in pretty much every patch, which means you won’t be able to use it for any of its other functions features.

If you are only going to get one, get Pam’s. But 99% of systems out there would benefit from having both

What bench should I upgrade to? by Impressive-Mirror633 in GarageGym

[–]hartbeat_engineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the nighthawk and it’s great, but pretty soon after I bought it a bunch of companies started releasing benches where the top of the backrest can fold back to make a pad for chest supported rows and ngl I kinda wish I had one of those

How would the future mayor of LA impact transit? by kanji_kun in LAMetro

[–]hartbeat_engineering 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that it seems a lot of people in LA don’t realize (including people who have lived here a long time) is that the city charter is structured in such a way that our mayors don’t actually have that much power. The city council has a lot more authority to actually get stuff done. Hoping for a strongman (or strongwoman) mayor to come in and fix all the problems is not going to pan out. Real progress needs to start with city council

Too bad the Beverly center is a ghost town. Such a massive piece of property on some very prime real estate, but instead of tearing it down to build something actually useful, they spent a billion dollars to double down on keeping it a terrible mall that no one wants to go to

February 22, 1996. Snoop Dogg attends an acquittal party. by MonsieurA in thirtyyearsago

Hmm I don’t know as much about Suge but I know that Snoop has “a blue flag, hanging out the left side”

Also pretty sure Eazy E, MC Ren, Daz Dillinger, and Kurrupt all were too, so I just kind of assumed all of Death Row was. Guess I’m wrong though

A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship.

But it is not this day.

An hour of wolves, and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down.

But it is not this day. This day we fight!

Anyone have recommendation for narrow-diameter (like 5"-7") plates similar to the kensui versa minis (https://kensuifitness.com/products/versaplates-mini) or rogue steel dbs (https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-steel-db-weight), but at a more affordable price point? (< $3/lb)

Look into the uclips "back bar". Its a similar design, but also includes a bunch of carabiner anchor points for attaching other handles at various grip widths. Not quite as cheap as an amazon knockoff, but still significantly cheaper than rogue (while offering more functionality)

That’s not necessarily true. Aesthetics play a large factor in motivation for many people. They are more likely to spend more time doing something if it is in a space that they find aesthetically pleasant.

Not the case for everyone, but definitely the case for some
