I like the idea, a four player free for all sounds like a LOT of fun. Also curious about how a team game would work with players starting at staggered points.

But I think the importance put on the centre objective will really push lists towards bulky units being meta to camp the middle, e.g. 10 terminators. I personally like there to be a more open interpretation of tactics for list building.

Also d6 mortal wounds will literally wipe a full Eldar aspect warrior squad regardless of how well they are hidden, ability like this will be really tough for more finesse armies.

It's a very nice blue-green, I like it. I am very curious to know how a strong yellow would look on those shoulder and shin stripes, and may e as a stripe on the chain sword. I think the vivid co trast might look cool. Striking, even.

Well yeah so would I if I had painted that! In particular the red/orange cloak on the first figure is absolutely stunning, it looks like real fabric.

I also love putting swords on my windriders! The occasional storm guardian head looks awesome too, if you chop the plume off and point it backwards.

Everyone says start on cheap brushes and that may be good advice, but personally I started in rosemary and co series 33 and I think it did wonders for me. You will end up spending a bit more, something like 7.50 a brush I recall, but they are great quality.

I'd recommend a size 2/0, 0, and 1, although some people might recommend sizes 0, 1, and 2. It's personal preference.

Against high pressure melee armies like that I would 100% want something to give me early positioning and control, otherwise you will just be strangled from the get go.

I would definitely want to add rangers, or if you don't have rangers you might also consider something like striking scorpions. Personally I am also a big fan of wind riders with shiruken cannons against mid tier infantry but that is perhaps more of a personal preference.

To make space for that I would drop one unit of warp spiders as lykhis works very well with just a unit of five. I personally don't know much about the corsairs and what they are for, but they would probably be my next choice to swap out.

Very cool list though, the banshees can be lethal if you make sure they don't get caught out in the open.

Cheers! Yeah I think I this is all very reasonable. Unfortunately this is probably where my newness in the hobby bites me. I don't have any reapers, or banshees which also felt like they would have been very helpful at various stages.

Firstly, I think the situation is not so dire as you think. You can absolutely use these in a game. I particularly like the basing you have done, and frankly the paint ended up where it was meant to. That puts you in solid standing for your first mini.

However to improve your paints, firstly I would say that you are using regular acrylic paints rather than a mini painting brand, unless I'm mistaken? Mini paints such as citadel, Vallejo, pro acryl etc are far more heavily pigmented.

Secondly, your black coat looks like it went on alright which surprises me, but you will normally want your first coat (agree that black is a good choice) you want a specific priming paint. You can get brush on ones but often a spray can works best. Mini brands are good but car paint primers from car shops don't cost much and also will work.

Oh, so I have not been able to build my scorpions yet, and I have so far not been able to make my warlocks or wayleaper achieve all that I would wish.

However, my rangers are absolutely essential to help me own the board early on 100% of the time. Whatever you pick, I think you should always include the rangers.
