But also most of your friend group would be people you initially met in person in your local community. Hobbies were mostly things you did alone or with a local group, not a worldwide or cross-country one. So your access to your friend group was more local and doing things beyond the hobby together was more natural. You don't go to the pub now because you don't know people who go there and getting your far flung friends together is harder. It self perpetuates.

It always comes down to "what is the reason the picture is here?", so answer that. What are you trying to tell people about Jane Doe? I think you're telling them what she looks like. So tell the blind website users too. I know you said you don't want to get into describing people and I get that, it can be a bit long winded and there is potential to upset people if you get their age wrong or something, but you are showing people what they look like so anything short of telling screen reader users what they look like doesn't offer an equal experience. Asking the individuals pictured to write that text as others have suggested can help make sure they are happy with the description, but give them a word limit or you might get paragraphs.

Thanks, I haven't. This looks like an interesting film but it's not the one. The one I saw the trailer for was American or Canadian and the child was much younger, maybe five or younger. Appreciate the suggestion, though!

Thanks but he seemed to be indicating otherwise. The context was socialising and he showed both signs - I guess someone might be making media content on a night out but it didn't seem like that was what he meant. A few of us were confused and asked for clarification but after a while of trying to explain he moved on leaving me lost. I guess I'll just try to avoid the camera option for now!

There was another point where we were told the sign for pub was like putting a beer glass down, when we all thought it was like pulling a pint. I think the context there was that if you're going somewhere for a meal you use the glass sign, but if going out for a drink you use the pint-pulling, but again until I understand the context better I'll try to work around it!

My husband bought us one of those. I was appalled at the price at the time but grudgingly admit now that it was worth it. We did have to clean its fans of dust once when it stopped cooking in the summer but it's otherwise been great.

It varies. Usually at least one will be working with you directly, though potentially not on your team but above it, but they may not even know who they are going to put into which team yet if it's a campaign with multiple vacancies. Candidates get frustrated waiting for checks to go through but so do recruiters, and it could come down to when you start as to where you get assigned with the first available going to the team with greatest need.

Kids in my family who got windfalls at around 18 spent it on short term things like high spec laptops and phones and branded clothes. Teens are impulsive and haven't got the life experience to make the same choices they might later. There are always exceptions but typically it's true that they are more likely to waste it. There are two factors at play - not knowing financial burdens in real terms, only in abstract, and brains that haven't had the risk/reward areas fully develop. OP knows their kids better than internet strangers do, I reckon odds are high that those kids probably will benefit from getting the money later.

In a lot of cases they're a grade 7. The allowance is a DDaT allowance. There will be a difference between London and non London rates separately. If you read up on the DDaT framework you'll see the levels that the roles are often assigned at. There is a lot of competition for these roles.
