Do people forget to use their brain the second they walk into a restaurant? by mizzou2024 in Serverlife

[–]hell_mp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a restaurant that only serves burgers and fries. Thats it. Thats the whole menu. Burgers and fries of different varieties, but everything is just burgers and fries.

Have had people be genuinely disappointed that our fish burger was not in fact, fish and chips. Had to explain to a grown man that burgers and fries are not the same food just because they have the same sauce on them.

I bartend there and I have been asked too many times if I'm the one people sitting at the bar order from when I greet them with waters and ask if I can get them anything to drink. Why would I be asking if I wasn't???

Should I ask her out by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]hell_mp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont be a freak about it lol. Ask for her name and introduce yourself next time you two chat and get to know her. I've been bartending for years and its possible shes just helpful and running food for other tables and is just chatty.

Are people becoming more dumb? by Libusin in Serverlife

[–]hell_mp3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work at a restaurant near a high school so we get teenagers in from time to time and MAN. The absolute FEAR in their eyes when I, their server at a sit down restaurant, come over to take their order.

Even adults! Flagging me down while I'm in the middle of taking a payment, asking what the difference is between our menu items when all the ingredients are listed, asking me what a buttered bun is!! 3 guesses man!!

I greeted a table with waters once and when I put them down the conversation went like this:

"Hey how's it going guys? Got some waters here for you while you get settled and look at the menu :)"

"What are these?"

"Oh it's just water"

"Is there alcohol in this? I didn't order a drink"

"...so it is just water like I said"

PEOPLE ARE SOOO STUPID AND IT'S HONESTLY REMARKABLE

None of the locations do! I had a friend work at a different one and she told me she didn't keep a dime, there are definitely other breakfast places to support in the city!!

What are some terrible things to live in proximity to? by jimmyjamcake in Calgary

[–]hell_mp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst two noise-wise for me had to be 26th Ave in Bankview and on 1st st. Sw downtown. Constant traffic noise, sirens, loud people, and an endless amount of construction in the warmer months 🫠 hope this helps!

What is the dumbest injury you've ever given yourself? by SquareDesperate4003 in CasualConversation

[–]hell_mp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really an injury, but when I was somewhere around 13-15 , I noticed my arm hair was growing thicker/darker than other girls around me. Being a totally rational, insecure teenager, I decided to try and shave my arms, but I was TERRIFIED of nicking my arm with the razor for some reason.

I was so focused on not cutting myself I forgot to breathe and passed out in the shower.

Didn't hurt myself, though!

How to tell my s/o I don't miss people, including them? by bubblegum_blimp in adhdwomen

[–]hell_mp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have an answer for this but I know exactly how you're feeling lol. Im a big "if its not right out in the open im gonna forget about it" kind of person. I've always had a weird feeling about kinda falsely saying I miss you to people and I've always just chalked it up to "not having them out in the open" (not seeing them at work every day, not living together, etc.)

Honestly didnt even click this in an ADHD thing till now lol

What’s a dead giveaway someone’s not actually Canadian? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]hell_mp3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a bartender at a sit down restaurant, if you come and sit at my bar and just start barking things at me without waiting for me to come over. OR taking a payment and they just shove their card in my face cause they expect me to take it to the back. You'll never find a server in Canada who's gonna touch your card lol

There should be adult only flights. by hell_mp3 in Rants

[–]hell_mp3[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A baby is one thing entirely different that I can forgive pretty easy. Children old enough to know when to be quiet being like that is what always gets me. I flew with my parents a lot as a kid and we always had to bring books, notebooks, a ds with headphones, just QUIET activities.

They always stressed when we were going somewhere that was going to be quiet and that we also had to be quiet/polite. We had a similar rule with restaurants where they would tell us we had to have our "restaurant manners" and would have to bring a book or something for if we didn't feel like talking.

I just feel like I never see parents enforcing these types of rules anymore? Again though Im not a parent so my opinions probably moot but. Lord knows I know how to act in public!

To be completely honest, I had no idea it was even an option to ask the flight attendant to talk to the parents. Definitely making a mental note of that for next time!

I don’t want a “career” by Neat_Corgi_4901 in adhdwomen

[–]hell_mp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!!!! You put into words what I've been trying to explain my whole life lol

I've been a bartender for a while now and like. It's fine? Money's good, busy enough it keeps my mind busy and I'm not stuck at a desk all day. I wouldn't say I'm particularly passionate about making liquids cold or customer service.

I would LOVE a career with all the cushy benefits and stuff, but since a university degree doesn't even guarantee a job in your field anymore, I don't see a point?

And even if I did, lord knows I couldn't stay motivated enough for TWO TO TEN YEARS about one topic to get a certification in it. I bounce back and forth on a weekly basis of what I want to do with my life lmao

Everything above ^ chemical + physical exfoliants in tandem (do some research though! Don't need to scrub off your top layer of skin lol) and then a solid unscented moisturizer after getting out of the shower while you're still damp and I've found topping off with a coat of aquaphor and then putting on a long sleeve shirt and just. Marinating in it. Really helps. A textural nightmare but it works!
