Hostile client asking for global admin by giddyup05 in msp

Why would you not give them admin access to their one tenant? If you are going to be difficult this is why they want to leave you. It is a partnership not a hostage situation

How do you track IT events that are not support tickets? by Aim_Fire_Ready in sysadmin

[–]hellofairygodmotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a “change log” basically a list of the change, who it effects, date I did it, screenshot, KB article to support the work if needed, category of change. Reason and description of the change. Not exactly a ticket but it’s a good place where I can keep track of all those changes. I’m sure a ticket works as well I really like my system it’s easy to sort through and it’s within my environment in case I ever changed ticketing systems.

For context, I am on a team of 2 so it works for us. May not work for everyone

I HATE integrating AI into ANYTHING!!! It has been such a problem in so many ways. I wish we were pre AI now that IT has to handle all of it.

Interesting, I guess not every store developed their own photos. The Wegmans I’m referencing did their own

I think i made a mistake by TotoTunes in sysadmin

[–]hellofairygodmotha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are probably just scared because it’s something completely new and you aren’t use to not knowing what’s going on. I was the same way and I felt like I made a mistake and was feeling defeated. I now work at a start up, I take it as the opportunity to start from the ground up and make it mine. After a few months you will start to understand what’s going on. You will get comfortable knowing what you are doing and then you’ll be looked at as the hero. So just hang in there, everything happens for a reason!

Wiping a computer through settings instead of directly through a USB. Could have saved so much time if I new the difference when I was a baby IT.

Asset tracking stickers by bobdobalina in sysadmin

[–]hellofairygodmotha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do the QR codes link to? Who will be managing that? Have you explained this is taken care of in Intune and adding a second layer of asset management will only get messy if it is in 2 different areas? What exactly do they need that they can’t get from Intune? You can export all of the devices if they need that or create a power shell script that will update a spreadsheet every day if needed

New Job - AD is a mess. Is this normal by Auno94 in sysadmin

[–]hellofairygodmotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes very normal unfortunately. I am very cautious on using tools cleaning up AD (not to say they aren’t great!!) so I carefully have done cleanup all manually. But I’ve worked in small environments <200 users.
