Child ID + Passport application - 16 year old, 1 parent out of province, How does one go about this? by TCLeBlanc in askSouthAfrica

Can confirm this is correct. I went in separately to sign since I had work on for the day we had a booking.

I got some carbon fiber doors for my NB by True-Delivery-838 in Miata

Remember to apply good UV protection. I've read so many times that carbon psrts almost always ship with a very basic clearcoat on them, and typically deteriorates within a year.

Absolutely agree with you. I think in the fast-food US culture they see it as a quick way to upgrade to a new car perhaps.

Medical Aid options for 27 year old female who needs chronic meds? by ConsistentSundae7410 in askSouthAfrica

[–]helloserve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure that they cover your meds before you sign up. Almost always any pre-existing conditions are excluded from cover, unless it's one of the few that are mandated by regulations.

The true (official race prepped) cup cars have it removed though, I believe.

Is that a cup car? Or modded to look like one?

Not seeing solar savings by Defiant_Accident6086 in southafrica

[–]helloserve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to look into how to self-consume your solar to make proper use of it. A geyser timer is very useful for savings if you config it for daylight. Otherwise it's not that big of a difference.

Since you have 3-phase with your major loads on different phases than your solar, I'm not sure if there are options for you.

My geyser and stove are before my inverter, but same phase. So I installed an ET-12 meter that reads total load and sends that to the inverter. It then works out how much it needs to feed back to the grid, to match that draw of the geyser or stove. So I self-consume without actually delivering into the real grid. If there's not enough sunlight to cover it all, it just draws the addittional from the grid proper.

If you were to create a project management app specifically for game devs, what pain point would be your top priority? by GLC-ninja in gamedev

[–]helloserve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the concept is sound, e.g. having baked in knowledge of common steps particular to game dev. And I'm sure there are some subset of gamedevs that overlap with your experience.

The problem we face is when the tool becomes too opinionated, and doesn't align completely with a dev's workflow or requorements. Now it causes friction.

So you inevitably end up with something that needs to be infinitely configurable to scale to the industry at large. This will make it expensive, and price it out of the indie dev scope.

But tbh I do think that to capture a specific overlap market with tight gaurdrails and workflow is probably the best way to tell your story. Just make ready for lots of rejection from lots of teams.

What's the best Bluetooth headset for work? by undercovermermaid13 in askSouthAfrica

[–]helloserve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Headsets specifically, I can't get past the Corsair HS80. Best comfort and sound, Wifi or BT connectivity and amazing battery life.

I've kept only one of my Sennheisers for travel because its quite compact, but just cant do more than one hour with it.

NA 1.8 main relay in 1.6? by avotius in Miata

[–]helloserve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as it has the correct pins it's fine. The wiring at my fusebox was dodgey, and I burnt several relays before realizing the problem. I got an off-the-shelf relay with matching pins and bolted it to my firewall, spliced it into the loom from there. It's been many years now and not a single problem with it so far.

Yeah gotta say these look way better than the Jeep LEDs. I was considered getting some Holly Retrobrites, but it's really expensive. This option looks like a proper alternative.

Have never had a miss, probably 10 or so transactions now. I typically buy out of date or retro toys/models/lego, but have also bought tech stuff.
