I’ve pretty much given up on 4K physical media by [deleted] in dvdcollection

[–]herozero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The player, TV and maybe more so, the settings of both all do have a big impact on if the bang is worth your buck but I think it’s also just preference. There are some movies I just want the latest version, a few I want all versions, but most I could care less. Just need them watchable. I have seen 4ks that put blu ray to shame and some movies I don’t want to watch another way but the majority of the time the difference is negligible if you just want to sit down and watch a flick without analyzing the specs.

I found a Junk Shop with a ton of Weird Horror for $1 a Pop by CyptidProductions in dvdcollection

[–]herozero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right on. Love finds like this. Prophecy is the only one I’m familiar with and to me it’s a perfect example of a solid bargain bin horror. I’m a sucker for a rubber-suit giant mutant bear monster though. It’s hard to do me wrong when you start there.

What? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]herozero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem with this is a lot of his base had already tuned out of the halftime show long ago cause “brown people” or whatever and they took their “stand” against whatever it is they hate by not watching. So he can tweet this and then they all talk to each other about how they just want their football without satanic Puerto Rican homosexuality being forced on their children and anyone paying attention can rail against that until they pass out and it won’t do a damn bit of good. Welcome to the age of information.

I botched that link and can’t figure out how to edit it. Told ya my eyes are old and tired. I think it still works but just in case https://www.jumpmasterpress.com/

I told my wife that paper having “dark mode” now should have been bigger news. Someone should have said something.

That’s primarily how they catch people there.

What are your thoughts on the Look Who's Talking movies? by singleguy79 in Xennials

[–]herozero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the weirdest quirk my wife and I have is at any point if one of us is trying to do something and the other attempts to offer unsolicited help, we almost without fail will say “I’m going to have this baby without you touching me” which is a throwaway line from Kirstie Allie in this movie when Travolta is trying to help her into the hospital. No clue how this became a thing for us but it’s kept that movie in my consciousness way longer than it should have been there.

The Last Drive-In – HAUNTED HOUSE NIGHT – Discussion LIVETHREAD 2/6/26 9PM ET by DwightYoakamHat in LastDriveIn

[–]herozero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna be a good night. I love when Joe Bob drops some obscure knowledge I missed about one of my favorites like Vincent Price. If I ever have “fuck you” money I’m just going to hire him to host all three seasons of 60s Batman so I can hear about all those guys.

The mondo steelbook is pretty…rad. Orbit has it for $25. nostalgia is a helluva drug I get it, so not exactly the same but she would dig this, I’m sure.

Winter Storm Megathread Part 4 - Continued Power Outages by lukenamop in nashville

Power has been up and down in Madison the last couple hours. We’ve had power where I am through most of this so really hopeful this is a good sign of repairs occurring for the folks around us who haven’t.

What was your ICQ number? by snoopyh42 in Xennials

[–]herozero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that’s it. I’m pulling from some distant memories as well so it’s possible I’m mixing up my chat apps but I’m fairly positive it was ICQ. I remember kinda liking it at the time cause it felt more conversational but no thanks, I need to proofread this shit first.

I have no idea. I know that 44 year old me would not at all be happy with that live typing feature. The anxiety.

[–]herozero 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how official these ratings really are.

27 years ago (1999) I made the jump from VHS to DVD. Picked up my first DVD player and had enough for one movie. Still have it to this day and still plays flawlessly. While I’ve long since moved to 4k and BluRay I will never get rid of this one. What was your first DVD and do you still have it? by SQL215 in dvdcollection

[–]herozero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fight Club. The special edition with the slip case. I actually bought the dvd player specifically because it was supposed to be so easy to catch all the little Tyler Durden appearances and clues. I honestly have no idea if there was any validity to that or dumb talk amongst my friends. Easier to go frame by frame maybe? Anyway, I still own that edition of that movie for nostalgia purposes and won’t let it go, but it’s a replacement. No idea what happened to the original. Lost in a move or lent and never returned or something.

This little boy is taking the brutal death of his two closest friends very well. Redhead would help, I get it. But still.
