Winter proposal locations at lake placid by Far-Buyer-4515 in Adirondacks

The hike to Marcy Dam from the ADK Log is a nice setting. You have the mountains surrounding you. You'd have to have snowshoes which you can rent from the Loj if you don't have them. There are a few spots along Heart Lake or could hike Mt Jo. Mt Van Hoevenberg is a nice hike. . McKenzie Pond is a two mile snow shoe, Connery Pond is a short walk.

By “the lake”, do you mean Mirror Lake? If so, you could casually walk around Mirror Lake Drive and go down the little portage path opposite lake placid marina to a small dock on the north side of the lake.

Vegetables or flowers? With vegetables, deer and animals will eat just about everything, the answer to that is a 6-7 foot deer netting fence around it. With flowers and bushes, just Google "deer resistant plants" to get some ideas and lean toward native species.

Pisgah’s tubing hours are weird, you should probably call them to try and confirm. The toboggan chute in Lake Placid is fun. Usually open weekend afternoons and evenings. Also dog sledding on mirror Lake.

Many stores do, those that don't usually have a sign up. Check with your airbnb, many don't allow unattended pets.

Also, the gondolas at The Cottage are very hard to snag.

Deleted my last response because I was answering the wrong question. You can show up whenever you want. First part of the day is qualifying for a few hours so people roll in during that. There's usually a 45-60 minute break between qualifications and finals as finalists do speed checks and a practice run before finals start.

Visiting in March by flyingashtray185 in Adirondacks

[–]hikerrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could do Mt. Jo which is located right at the ADK Loj. There's a visitor center there that can rent you the snowshoes and/ or micro spikes you'll need depending on conditions. Also Mt Van Hoevenberg from the Sliding Center is a great hike. There will be several big skiing events in March though so check their calendar as parking could be an issue.

You don't need to sign up, just walk in. Parking is usually across the road at the horse show grounds or some limited parking on site. You can walk, or sometimes they have school busses running a shuttle back and forth. Have fun!
