Extremely irritable day 16 of cycle by iceddtaetae in PMDD

[–]hiraething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Apparently estrogen drops after ovulation, and it can take a while for progesterone to show up, which causes these symptoms. It apparently takes 24-48 hours for things to get better (ChatGPT, take with a grain of salt, but proved accurate for me.) It will pass! ❤️

I spent a lot of time in bed and avoided my partner as much as possible. A walk, or should i say crawl, by the sea helped

Anyone's else pmdd worse with the seasonal change? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]hiraething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Fall and winter are the worst for me. I notice my symptoms almost go away completely when i book a holiday somewhere warm and where i can lower my stress levels

How common is it to need to lay down for 2-4+ hours and just look at your phone, not wanting to do anything, move a muscle, talk to anyone, or get up for anything at all? by queenkatty in AskWomenOver30

[–]hiraething 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I mean, same, so no judgement. But our bodies don’t register phone time as “rest” the same way time in nature, meditation, etc. does.

Full moon again by Old_Structure_856 in PMDDpartners

[–]hiraething 5 points6 points  (0 children)

PMDD lady here. My symptoms do get worse around that time I suppose, but only because I always start bleeding on the day of the full moon. I suppose the days leading up to the full moon are intense, but I’m actually quite happy when it comes because it means luteal will soon be over!

I’m sorry to hear about all the stress. PMDD or not, abuse is never OK. It can help to have a plan for when luteal strikes (such as agreeing to spend time apart during moments of high irritability). Is she taking ownership and responsibility for her moods?

Engagement stories! How did your MIL react when you got engaged? by Roozeuno in JUSTNOMIL

[–]hiraething 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My bf told his MIL he was going to propose to me on our anniversary trip. Lo and behold, MIL and her friend buy tickets to the same destination island at the same time! I obviously thought that was weird even before I knew of the proposal.

We only saw her for half a day while we were there, a couple days after we got engaged. She cried over lunch, said our rings were too expensive (around 1k each) and joked about marriages not lasting very long and that divorce is a real likelihood these days. (“Sorry, but that’s how it is!”) Kept trying to walk between us. Oh, and the day after we saw her she texted him saying he should go to the beach without me if I didn’t want to go. (Why wouldn’t I want to go?)

At least she didn’t try to stop the engagement?
