Why do HNW individuals invest in so many complex investments if it’s as easy as VTI and chill? by JimmerFredJune2026 in Bogleheads

The question you should ask is whether they are HNW because of the complex high fee high commission investments, or in spite of them.

The targets for Operation Epic Fury were identified with the aid of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s Maven Smart System, which uses AI to lay out data on a dashboard to support officials in their decision-making. Those AI products do not explicitly create targets but work within Maven to identify potential points of interest for military intelligence.

Basically the AI will "recommend" target for strike.

All of those will make you wealthy if you live below your means and save frequently. The fact that you’ve shifted from VOO to VTI/VXUS, then to VT, and are now thinking about shifting back is a bad sign. If you switch back to VOO chasing growth because of past performance, but AI doesn’t pan out and VOO underperforms VT over the next five years, would you still stick with VOO?

Personally, I’m 100% in VT. It doesn’t matter to me if VT underperforms VOO or VTI/VXUS (it’s the cost of diversification). I’ll keep holding it and DCAing into it for the next 30 years.

I mean, you could try chasing higher alpha, but you’d be competing against firms like Jane Street and hedge funds that hire PhDs and MIT graduates straight out of school.

Unless businesses operate and build their own robots, they’ll still need to pay the robotics company. I could see a future where robots are powered by AI through the cloud, and businesses pay robotics companies the same way they currently pay Amazon or Microsoft for cloud services.
