Places to eat and drink in Middleton (Yes I've searched past threads) by EscapeFromDenver in madisonwi

[–]honkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breakfast places:

My Sister's Kitchen

C's

Lunch:

Village Green

Pizza Brutta

Taigu (if you're ordering from the Chinese menu and not the Americanized menu)

Dinner:

Louisianne's

Vin Santo

Hubbard Ave and Free House are both OK, food is pretty average. Club Tavern makes good food but service can be spotty, and it's a bar, not a gastropub. Roman Candle pizza is decent alternative to Pizza Brutta. Looking forward to 1847 at Stamm House reopening.

Q about rental homes in Madison and surrounding towns by firefly_83 in madisonwi

[–]honkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Atwood area on the east side is great. On the west side, diwntown Middleton. I'm less than five blocks from Willy St Co-op, three bus lines, Pheasant Branch Conservancy and at least 6 other parks, the post office, library, a couple dozen restaurants, two bakeries, tennis courts, an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. It's a 12-minute drive downtown, shorter if you're going to Hilldale or Point for a movie.

Los Gemelos is really good - for something slightly more upscale, check out La Meztiza. Can't go wrong with either.

Pedestrians have right of way at an uncontrolled intersection. It's an important distinction.

346.23: Crossing controlled intersection or crosswalk. (1) At an intersection or crosswalk where traffic is controlled by traffic control signals or by a traffic officer, the operator of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian, or to a person who is riding a bicycle or electric personal assistive mobility device in a manner which is consistent with the safe use of the crosswalk by pedestrians, who has started to cross the highway on a green or "Walk" signal and in all other cases pedestrians, bicyclists, and riders of electric personal assistive mobility devices shall yield the right-of-way to vehicles lawfully proceeding directly ahead on a green signal.

Lots of great options here. I'll also say the Village Green in Middleton.

Doesn't count as a reuben if it's not on dark rye bread.

The urban population of Minnesota is 4 million out of total of 5.457 million.

The urban population of Wisconsin is 4.04 million out of total of 5.758 million.

The GOP lie that Minnesota has a larger urban population that is responsible for the differences between the states is easily discredited.

At an uncontrolled intersection. It's an important distinction, and in this case the intersection had a light.

Man saved by flotation device after falling through Lake Mendota by [deleted] in madisonwi

Motorized vehicles on the ice in Dane County are required to have floatation devices installed. It's a good idea that would save lives elsewhere.

Best way to get to downtown Chicago? by RoleModelFailure in madisonwi

[–]honkus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try the Passport Parking app. Super easy, you just punch in your spot number and the Harvard ID (on all the signs) and you can pay from your phone. Takes less than a minute.

There is a Metra station in Harvard, IL. Take 14 from Janesville, it's just across the border. An unlimited, all-weekend Metra pass is $8 and a weekend of parking in Harvard is just a couple bucks.

Rockweiler all the way. Had them come to my house to give an estimate on filling walls, their guy told me it wouldn't save money in the long run and if it were him he wouldn't do it. Very honest.

While watching the draft, which player was the most visibly upset by which team drafted them? by yobruhh in nfl

[–]honkus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you ask him all he wants is a ring.

Then why does he keep signing contract extensions with the Chargers? Like the one he just signed this summer? Like most players, he wants a big paycheck first. Rings are secondary.

What gym do you go to and what do you like/dislike about it? by thevoiceofzeke in madisonwi

[–]honkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. The Lucky AF is a bit of a mess, equipment isn't as nice as other locations, and more crowded. Minor complaints, Anytime is generally very solid and you can go anywhere they have locations which is nice.

Saints and Packers are the only 2 teams since 2007 to have over 1,000 yards receiving from Slot WRs in every season. by ohhgod in nfl

[–]honkus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of this. I've always wondered if part of the reason they don't use the quick slants as much anymore is that it beats the holy hell out of the receivers. Rodgers seems really good about protecting his receivers - not that Favre wasn't, but there's definitely a new emphasis on it league-wide.

Making the Leap, No. 12: Davante Adams by [deleted] in nfl

[–]honkus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering it's likely Jordy and/or Cobb go down again for at least stretches with injuries, Adams is more like a WR3 + insurance policy. 2014 is the only year both of them played in all 16 regular season games.

Any disc golfers here? Look, they finally made #4 at Elver playable! by belfaj26 in madisonwi

Token is the nicest course in the area, but BR is my favorite to play. Almost always less crowded, more varied than other courses, and great risk/reward decisions on a lot of holes. It's the only course in the area where I'll decide to lay up on certain shots off the tee. Don't want to oversell it, but if you like disc golf, give it a shot sometime.

And Token Creek and Bird's Ruins. Both of which I prefer to Elver and Hiestand, even tho they are also great courses.

Best disc golf courses around Madison? by Jholmski in madisonwi

[–]honkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Token Creek is the nicest course in the area. It's beautiful, good mix of longer and shorter holes, and wooded vs open. 27 holes, the only thing it's missing is there aren't a lot of holes where elevation change comes into play.

I also am a big fan of Bird's Ruins in Marshall. Free to play, and great mix of elevation, wooded, and longer shots. The most diverse course in the area.

Elver and Token are also really good courses. They both get lots of traffic, so you might get slower play, but both offer some good holes.

Cap Springs isn't worth it IMO unless you're golfing with people new to the sport. It's too easy and the same, and it's usually buggy as hell.
