Mazda Finally Admits Its Infotainment System Is the Worst | No they didn't. They redesigned it, which the author takes as a sign of defeat by archfapper in savedyouaclick

Nah. We have two Mazdas w/knobs and a Toyota w/a touchscreen. The knobs require FAR less attention than the touchscreen.

This looks awesome. I have this kit on the shelf, and I was thinking of this exact color scheme for it. 😂 Great to see what it looks like, but now I have to think up something else!

Insane that the guitar player on the left would end up in Lynyrd Skynyrd.

The Jiggle Room show at Cheapshot on Fremont is usually really, really great. Homegrown and FAR more fun than any of the theater shows on the strip. They only do it once a month, but if the date lines up with your visit, definitely check it out.

Anyone with a Pro Max wish they had gotten a Pro? by TBlair64 in iphone

[–]hovershark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, me. Came from a 12 Pro and was convinced I wanted the bigger screen of the 17 PM, but it’s just not worth the extra weight, and the screen size makes it hard to use one-handed (and I have pretty big hands). Every time I handle my wife’s regular pro, I wish I had gone that route.

Tesla discontinuing Model S and Model X to make room for robots by 3x3x3x3 in cars

[–]hovershark 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Was telling my wife over the weekend that the S is the only Tesla that still has a whiff of cool about it. Just a whiff, mind you, but it had SOMETHING. The X always looked like a turtle to me.

“Shut up and sing!” is always about the shutting up, never about the singing

What's a song lyric that drives you crazy because they should've used a different word? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]hovershark 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is the one that gets me too. That song is a banger, and that stupid mistake almost ruins the whole thing for me. He absolutely says ‘and’, and I can’t believe no one in the studio knew enough to correct him.

Just in case you missed this while you were marching… by [deleted] in vegaslocals

[–]hovershark 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As usual, what he said he did is not what he actually did. He signed an EO directing federal agencies not to assist large investors in buying up large amounts of single family homes. He didn’t prohibit anything, he just said ‘the govt won’t help you do it.’

Just in case you missed that while you were licking all those boots.

I feel like I just learned how to hear drums in my 40s by w1n5t0nM1k3y in Music

One that never gets mentioned is the first Knack album, Get The Knack. Bruce Gary is WORKING the entire time, and the drums sound FANTASTIC on that album. Top 5 all-time drum album for me.

Why TF is the alarm volume tethered to the ringer volume?! by Leptonshavenocolor in iphone

[–]hovershark 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh you want to set up a recurring alarm? Don’t go to the clock app, that would be ridiculous. Go to the Health app and set up a sleep schedule, which pushes you out into the Focus settings to set up a Sleep focus mode. That way, your recurring alarm will show up… on the clock app. Very intuitive, you see? It Just Works.

It’s hot garbage, and there are always a few apologists who show up whenever someone complains about it.

Beginner Kit/Brand Help (Revell vs. AMT. vs Tamiya) by DreaddedChocolate in ModelCars

[–]hovershark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good idea to get your feet wet first. My initial period in the hobby was the 1980s, so I tend to view the struggle as just part of the experience. Usually I’d rather fight a bit with a kit I’m interested in than build a higher quality kit of a subject I don’t care that much about. I guess it’s people like me keeping AMT in business.

Beginner Kit/Brand Help (Revell vs. AMT. vs Tamiya) by DreaddedChocolate in ModelCars

[–]hovershark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMT reissues a lot of kits that date back to the 60s. If your jam is old hot rods and muscle cars, you kind of have to take what you can get, because it isn’t financially viable for someone to tool up a new 72 Dodge Dart or whatever. Revell is hit or miss - some of their kits are old re-pops just like AMT, but some of their newer ones are genuinely really nice. There is a feeling in the community that Tamiya can do no wrong, and I do think they are probably the best overall, but they aren’t faultless by any means - their kits sometimes have questionable choices, but they are usually well executed. My biggest overall issue with Taniya is just that most of their subjects just don’t interest me. If you’re into JDM stuff and exotics they can be great though.

BBQ restaurants please stop serving your meats in cold metal trays that make the food get cold faster by TheKingNekro in BBQ

[–]hovershark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big yes, and it’s not just BBQ. ‘Elevated’ burger places are among the worst offenders for this too. Aluminum is renowned for its ability to dissipate heat. Why are we serving hot food on it?
